The Ontario government has shut down U.S.-based Everest College, a chain of 14 private career schools.
On Thursday, the superintendent of private career colleges, the independent regulator that governs schools like Everest and others in the province, said it has suspended the chain's licence to operate in Ontario as a private college, effective immediately.
The office "can propose to revoke a private career college's registration if [the superintendent] no longer satisfied that it can be expected to be financially responsible in its operation as a private career college, considering its current financial position," the regulator said in a statement.

I went to one of those colleges for a diploma. I graduated. No one takes it seriously and not one credit can be transferred to any other post-secondary institution. I lost about 7 thousand dollars
No more McEducations in Canada...
Everest, like so many of these private career colleges, advertised heavily during shows such as Jerry Springer and Maury Povich, right along with the ambulance chasers and disability claims lawyers and the usurious payday lenders.
Tells you all you need to know about their target market the quality of their students, and the quality of the education provided.
No tears shed for anyone here.
“The school is owned by U.S.-based Corinthian Colleges Inc., which was a Nasdaq-listed public company until it was delisted this month for failing to file financial information with regulators in a timely manner.
That came after allegations of falsified job placement and grade data last year led Corinthian to agree to shut down and sell numerous locations as part of a deal with U.S. lawmakers.”
Corinthian’s problems in the US has been reported here previously.
After posting I went to look for the articles and Corinthian does not come up un a search, so I could be wrong. I have seen articles about their problems recently.
Corinthian Colleges, Inc. (CCi) was one of the largest for-profit post-secondary education companies in North America until 2014.
CCi’s schools offered career-oriented diploma and degree programs in health care, business, criminal justice, transportation technology and maintenance, construction trades, and information technology. CCi had over 100 Everest, Heald and WyoTech campuses throughout the United States and Canada, and also offered degrees exclusively online.
As of 2015, Corinthian Colleges faces numerous investigations and lawsuits, including a federal criminal investigation.
Like Phoenix College???
I never liked Phoenix.
And I am still not over Macho Grande.
Take off of “Bridges At Toko Ri”? one of my grandad’s fav. film.
I don’t know its source, but I was using a bit by Ted Striker in Airplane.
I think they alluded to that movie ... on the flashbacks it showed Marine Corsairs hitting a bridge and I think it was that bridge ....
