Geology documents dinosaurs fleeing Noah’s Flood

by Tas Walker

Published: 19 February 2015 (GMT+10)

In February 2015, geologists Tracy Thomson and Mary Droser, in an article published online by the journal Geology, released graphic evidence for the reality of Noah’s Flood.1

Swimming animals left tracks underwater

Thomson and Droser

Figure 1. Swim trackway from Capitol Reef National Park, USA.

The Geological Society of America press release shows a sandstone block sitting vertically in the field with tracks running for a few metres across its surface (figure 1). These are interpreted as swimming tracks because the imprints represent only a part of the foot. Consequently it is assumed that the animal was being supported by water. Thomson and Droser explain:

Swim tracks are a unique type of vertebrate track because they are produced underwater by buoyant trackmakers, and specific factors are required for their production and subsequent preservation. Swim tracks are found all over the world, including dinosaur tracks in northern Spain, which consist of claw marks made on the sand surface as the animal was on tip-toes trying to move through deep flowing water.

It’s anyone’s guess as to what time period elapsed between Genesis 1:1 and the creation of Adam.

A couple of days I thought.

An all powerful and all knowing creator could just create the cosmic background radiation exactly as you find it.

This would make God a trickster, and personally, I find it much more likely that He occasionally writes in allegories.

Everyone knows that the Triceratops didn’t get along with the donkeys on Noah’s Arc.

Probably because the donkeys kept making an ass out of themsevles.

“”It’s anyone’s guess as to what time period elapsed between Genesis 1:1 and the creation of Adam.””

“A couple of days I thought.”

Food for thought: due to the time-dilation effect resulting from traveling at velocities which are a substantial fraction of the speed of light, the high velocity traveler’s passage of two days in time can be actually equivalent to the passage of millions and billions of years in time upon the Earth.

How can the Genie OR cannot the Genie create beautiful women for you, if you lack the free will to do so or not to do so?

“As for age of the earth, I want to know what the Appalachians looked like when they were young....”

The young Appalachian Mountains were barren rocks and sand the height of the present day Rocky Mountains and Alps Mountains, and they soon became buried under immense fields of snow, ice, glaciers, and continental ice sheets during the worst ice age to occur in the last 600 million years. Trees, grasses, and almost all other forms of terrestrial plant life did not yet exist. Terrestrial forms of animal life did not yet exist. Terrestrial life forms in the form of fungi and liverwort-type plants were just barely beginning to colonize dry land along the streams and valleys of the lowlands adjacent to the seas when the ice age occurred. So, the young Appalachian mountains were desolate young mountains which soon became covered in snow and ice much like the mountains of Greenland and the Antarctic today, but without the terrestrial life forms.

If you believe that nonsense news story at face value, you’ll believe anything.

I didn't say I believed it at face value, I don't. However, I do have an open mind and am willing to explore all alternative theories. No closed mind here, unlike others (like the ones who believed the Earth was flat or that the Sun revolved around the Earth). A lot of what we've been taught in schools turned out to be false. For instance, all those mock-ups of dinosaurs are imaginings, based on bones. Scientists only speculate on what kind of skin coverings hung on those bones, whether they be alligator-like, hairy, or feathery. Regarding that news story I mentioned, our early exploration of space is turning our ideas about our own planet upside down. The expanding Earth theory sounds like nonsense. We'll never really know during our lifetime what happened over millions of years, because there is a whole lot of guessing going on, and many who sell theories as facts without much evidence.

It doesn’t have anything directly to do with salvation, but is a good Rocharts Blot test to see how an individual’s theological principles pertaining to scriptural interpretation work.

I don’t have a real dog in the fight, because I don’t think that I interpret scripture inerrantly, and also have no psychological need to do so. But, to quote Monte Python, I’m a Roman Catholic . . . (and my wife’s expecting our sixth).

What does Noah's Flood have in common with Global Warming?

Everything is evidence of it.

“And the Earth is flat too? And the Sun revolves around the Earth?”

“He stretches out the north over empty space And hangs the earth on nothing.”- Job 26.

That verse doesn’t seem to say that the Earth is flat. Maybe you can provide the verse that does.

And you might want to include a verse that states that the Sun revolves around the Earth. The Medieval Catholic Church taught that idea but they picked it up from Ptolemy rather than anything from the Bible.

I was actually satirizing based on the ravings of some inbred crazed imam, from another thread. Though IMHO, based on the premise of this article’s title and its content, they are not so far removed.

The sun revolves round the earth quotes ...

1 Chronicles 16:30

tremble before him, all earth; yea, the world stands firm, never to be moved.

Psalms 93:1

The Lord reigns; he is robbed in majesty; the lord is robbed, he is girded with strength. Yea, the world is established; it shall never be moved.

The context of Psalm 93:1 is the Lord’s majesty and power. The subordinate clause “the world is established; it shall never be moved” is referring to back to that and is stressing the Lord’s omnipotence.

The section of 1 Chronicles 16 beginning at verse 28 is likewise speaking of the Lord’s power and holiness, telling the people of the earth to worship him, that they have no ability to change God.

In both cases that you cite the context is about God’s dominion and you’re trying to read astrophysics into it.

The Young Earth crowd indeed believes that the days of creation were 24 hours and the Earth is something on the order of 6,000 years old.

What is ironic is that science was able to progress in the monasteries of the West due to the Christian doctrine that man is the imagio dei and imbued with rational faculties that would allow him to unveil the mysteries of creation. Pierre Duhem investigated science’s origins in the Middle Ages and Stanley Jaki has written of it as well.

Besides quoting the Bible out of context in a way that misrepresents what it had to say in those quotations, there is also the real world fact humans have left the Earth, traveled away from the Earth, and observed the Earth from afar as it “moved” through space along its orbit around the Sun. Furthermore we have cameras aboard spacecraft that have traveled to the Sun and photographed the Earth orbiting around the Sun and the spacecraft orbiting close to the Sun. Those direct observations of the Earth moving along an orbit around the Sun while being photographed and/or seen with the human eye is conclusive evidence and proof the Earth is indeed orbiting around the Sun. Such direct proof pretty much demonstrates you are misrepresenting and misrepresenting the Biblical scripture you quoted.
