ANKARA, Feb 19 (Reuters) - Turkey will go ahead with plans to order a $3.4-billion missile defence system from China, Defence Minister Ismet Yilmaz said, despite U.S. and NATO concerns over security and compatibility of weaponry.

What’s NATO going to do when those frisky Kurds demand their own country, and a big chunk of it is now Turkey?
The Turkish regime couldn't very well buy Russian equipment, and NATO doesn't exactly cause Turkey's Russian enemy to tremble with fear.
This is just another signal that Ankara is heading in a different direction. If Turkey has selected a missile defense system that is not compatible with NATO, then Turkey’s missile defenses are intended to face to the west and no longer eastward. Turkey is rejoining the radicalizing Islamic world; this new reality will shake Middle East overnight, and the long-term implications for NATO are ominous.
Turkey’s lost...why don’t we just admit it and push them over the side”
100% agree. Another country dictated by radical Muzzie policies.
Saladin was a Kurd and he united the Muslims to drive out the Crusaders.
One wonders if the Turks realize what they really need is a missile defense AGAINST China, not FROM China...
Better corruption opportunities. Who cares if the puppies don’t work?
Unlicensed S-300 clone.
The Turks and the Russians will screw anyone if it suits them.
Why do you put Russians and Turks on one page? There is a huge Kurd community in Russia, BTW.
Good. Make sure you treat the Kurds well.
Given the Turks stated this project will be paid for by ‘foreign financing’, leads me to believe China has filled the gap when the US shut down the ‘free money’. Sounds as though they’re getting it for nothing (or nearly so) and ‘offsets’ (always a big part of any deal with the Turks) will likely be large enough to fill the foreign bank accounts of Ergogan and his AKP pals. That’s always more important than if a system actually functions.
I hope that NATO can get a good look at the Chinese system and find all its weaknesses.
Turkey is planning on leaving NATO. That’s what this means.
