Strange Bedfellows: Consumer Groups, Koch Brothers Unite To Back Tesla Stores
Green Car Reports ^ | February 18, 2015 | Stephen Edelstein

Posted on 02/18/2015 12:34:09 PM PST by LogicDesigner

War makes strange bedfellows.

Over the past decade, the Koch Brothers have become a major political force, funneling money from their family company into organizations that support conservative politicians and causes--including the denial of climate change.

So Charles and David Koch wouldn't seem like enthusiastic supporters of electric-car maker Tesla Motors.

Yet the Koch-funded group Americans for Prosperity is one of 10 signatories on a letter sent to U.S. governors and legislators urging them to support Tesla's direct-sales business model.

...including the denial of climate change.

...including the refutation of anthropogenic climate change.

Does EVERYBODY have to have an agenda???

Perhaps it's that emphasis on free-market competition that got a Koch-backed group to stand alongside the likes of the Sierra Club.

Ya think? The left is baffled by people who value liberty for it's own sake.

Not surprising. Alone among moneyed interests, the Koch brothers uniformly take a pro-market stance, rather than a pro-business stance, which is why the left hates them so much. The post-Clinton left has been happy to coopt the rich by making regulations favoring incumbents in the market (like car dealers in this instance), provided they support the ‘Rats with campaign donations.

The Earth is a giant electromagnetic vortex. With the correct technology it should be possible to run an electric vehicle without using gas or coal generated power plants. The way to break the back of the oil oligarchy is to make this technology a front runner ...

The government interference in how Tesla chooses to market and sell their product is despicable.

Are you referring to the fake nephew of Nikola Tesla who perpetuated a hoax about his uncle making a car that ran on a “cosmic energy power receiver”?

Nikola Tesla was very real and made some incredible progress in the arena of electricity and magnetism. However, the limitless energy electric car is fake, my FRiend.

I support direct sales of cars and other products from manufacturers to consumers as under the UCC implied warranties come back into play for consumers.

FedGov should not reward one business model over another in car sales. I wonder if Cruz could appeal to at least some of the Warren voters by emphasizing his free market disdain for crony capitalism. Mainstream democrats and establishment republicans are both in the pockets of corrupt big business interests.

This popped up on Jalopnik yesterday and the leftist sheep in the commenter’s section had their world view rocked. They have all been trained to dutifully bleat “Koch brothers baaaaaaad” and were shocked to find the free market they were asking for (for Tesla only mind you) had them lined up with the Kochs.

“FedGov should not reward one business model over another in car sales. I wonder if Cruz could appeal to...”

Unfortunately, in this case it is the state governments that are standing in the way. Although under the Constitution's “interstate commerce” clause, Congress has the authority to step in in this case.

I’ve always wondered due to Einstein’s concept of time dilation (the faster you moving the slower time moves)

...then because of the Earth’s rotation

a point on earth equator is moving faster then a point at the Earth’s poles...

so you should have a slight difference in the flow of time at those two points due to time dilation

and a potential energy flow between those two points

however miniscule

Guy down the street from me (he is in his mid 80’s and a retired Boeing engineer) has a Tesla AWD on order.

“The rear motor of the P85D churns out the equivalent of 465bhp, the front motor 218bhp, making for 683bhp in total – an awful lot of power in anyone’s money.”

Now remember the two fundamental immutable laws of the universe:
1. There is no such thing a a skirt that is too short.
2. There is no such thing as too much horsepower.

strictly from an engineering perspective electric car has a lot of great points ... but also the one major drawback ....time to refuel....

from the so-called with green perspective there is alot of pure BS...electricity that to be generated and transported via infrastructure to get it into your vehicle is no more green than gasoline.

the manufacturing and rare earths that have to be used to make it, make the car less green than the Greens want to.

not to mention the recycling costs at the end of this lifetime so from perspective it’s kind of bogus..a lot of hidden costs...so all the government kickbacks on this to try and make it cost competitive are completely unwarranted..and just anti free market competition

that being said there’s some cool technology in this vehicle...

funny gasoline was originally a green fuel...gasoline was the waist byproduct from making kerosene...

and kerosene from petroleum itself was the green alternative to whale oil
