What the West really needs to take on the Islamic State is ... a jobs program.
That's what a top State Department spokeswoman suggested when asked in a TV interview Monday night about what the U.S.-led coalition is doing to stop the slaughter of civilians by Islamic State militants across the region.
"We're killing a lot of them, and we're going to keep killing more of them. ... But we cannot win this war by killing them," department spokeswoman Marie Harf said on MSNBC's "Hardball." "We need ... to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it's lack of opportunity for jobs, whether --"
At that point, Harf was interrupted by host Chris Matthews, who pointed out, "There's always going to be poor people. There's always going to be poor Muslims."

She is right that we can’t win by just killing them. The recruiting pool for the Daesh is tens of millions. The only bottlenecks are transportation and equipage.
But “jobs” are not the answer. That comment was an absurdity. These guys are living the Islamic dream - violence, loot and sex slaves - and an instant trip to paradise if they’re killed.
We need to find out who is contributing to ISIS, who buying from them, who is selling them weapons, ammo, vehicles and fuel, who is handling their money, and KILL THEM. No warnings, no legal actions, just quick, painful death. We also need to steal or destroy their assets. State actors need to be judiciously targeted for assassinations and major infrastructure “accidents.”
The only way to win is to cut the Daesh off from their support.

No. The State Department is simply not on the side of the USA.
During the Cold War, the State Department was heavily infiltrated by Communists. They might be gone, but they left a legacy in their policies, hiring, etc.
Likewise, the State Department recruits heavily from the Ivy League - ALSO heavily infiltrated by Communists.
The sad fact is that State is on the side of America’s enemies.

I have heard, and wonder if it is true, that the participants are bringing their own funds to this “Islamic dream.” If so, this is going to be hard to put your kind of kibosh on... are you proposing someone to drone every well to do Islamic family in the world?

If they wanted to have a valley girl as a SPOX for the State Department, they could not have chosen anyone more qualified than Marie Harf. Someone, PLEASE, gag her with a spoon!
