I used to think the same thing. The entire state is not Kennebunkport. When you go out into some of the rural counties, there is a lot of poverty. The paper industry has had a terrible last few years. Almost 1 in 8 people are below the poverty line. And then on the coast, you will find some of the most expensive real estate in the nation.
Before LePage became Governor, Maine was a well-kept secret amongst the taker crowd. They’d tell one another “you should move here because the cost of living is cheap and public benefits are generous”.
