Any country that shows an inclination to break free from western banking and global domination and has leaders that threaten the power elite structure has been scheduled for regime change.
Libya was an interesting case. Western oil companies (research Apache and western Egypt) in western Egypt discovered oil there and wanted more control over it and the port of Benghazi in eastern Libya. With Libya, strongman Khaddafi was threatening to take his billions of dollars out of Italian banks, a threat to those darn European banking interests. NATO was only given authority to "protect the protestors as they returned home". Instead, they disintegrated Khaddaffi and created chaos in Libya. Instead of a pro-western government emerging, as with everything else Obama has had a hand in, the vacuum has created has been filled by terrorists the US has armed, funded, and trained, and we're still doing that. Why are we training Syrian radicals who promise to friend us instead of helping the Kurds?
If the DC crowd wants to do anything useful, how about a memorandum forbidding military or clandestine action against leaders who defend Christians and other minorities?
There was absolutely no reason to dismantle the govs in Libya or Egypt...they provided stability. There's no sane reason Assad is our enemy and Saudi Arabia is our friend.
We'll go down in history as the "evil empire"...if there is history.
This stuff was considered conspiracy theory when it was developing. Facts have born it out.
There is plenty of reasons for Assad to go down. That Baathist prick and Iran helped fund the Baath insurgents in Fallujah and took in al Dhouri, not to mention his regime was working on developing nukes- which Israel made clear back in 2006 when they made the bombing run into Syria.
