I agree that some decisions are about resource allocation, and I am not in support of that.
However sometimes it is just futile care, futile torture. I have watched locked in stroke patients be lab rats for medical students. I have watched dying systems failing patients be lab rats for just one more torturous procedure or medication. Horrific.
The purpose of medicine is human beings. The purpose of human beings is not medicine.
I don’t know if you’re aware of it, but that has become a contentious issue.
