Paul studied biology (and English) at Baylor, but he didnt earn a degree. Theres no excuse for resume-inflation, even when its jocular. We cant quite say this is worthy of Four Pinocchios, but the senator should be more careful in the future.

Al Gore flunked college and he ended up inventing the internet.
Like the standard process, Gore recognised something useful and attached himself to it. I worked at Intel but only invented part of the microprocessor. It was a couple of chunks of ceramic and silicon and metal stuff. With an offset printed label. And a shipping tube!

Many colleges would award degrees after the fact to their students who went beyond a certain number of hours and then moved on and obtained a qualifying higher degree (doctorate typically).
It was common back in my day.
I would not be surprised to see a retroactively awarded diploma trotted out that critics were unable to locate.
