Dawkins: Islam is one of the great evils in the world
February 9, 2011Acharya S/D.M. Murdock470 Comments Richard Dawkins (Photo: Cstreet/Christopher G. Street, Bransgore, Dorset, England, UK)Richard Dawkins says it outright. One wonders why so few other atheists are speaking out in the same way. Note that he does not hasten to qualify his comment by saying, Islamic extremism or radical Islam.
Dawkins: Im reasonably optimistic in America and Europe. Im pessimistic about the Islamic world. I regard Islam as one of the great evils in the world, and I fear that we have a very difficult struggle there.
Narrator: Why is it more problematic than Christianity, for instance?
RD: There is a belief that every word of the Koran is literally true, and theres a kind of closemindedness which is, I think, less present in the former Christendom, perhaps because weve had long I dont know quite why but theres more of a historical tradition of questioning. There are people in the Islamic world who simply say, Islam is right, and we are going to impose our will. Theres an asymmetry. I think in a way we are being too nice. I think that its possible to be naively overoptimistic, and if you reach out to people who have absolutely no intention of reaching back to you, then you may be disillusioned.
Dawkins is a fool.
Genuis that Dawkins is—there is oo such thing as evil if atheism is true.
Narrator wonders why islam is more problematic than, say, Christianity.
Gee. That’s a tough one.
How about reading both of the books. Read the New Testament and and quran. As you read, make note of how people are to live when they follow Christ, as is given us in the New Testament. Continue to read the quran, and make note of how people are to live according to mohammed, as given in the quran.
It’s really, really easy. I don’t know why there’s any question about it.
I think that's all he's saying
Broken clocks are correct twice a day
"disillusioned" ?
Is this a euphemism for "Killed"- tom
Another stopped clock.
At other times, this gyro gearloose has said that Christianity is THE greatest evil.
“Dawkins is a fool.”
Dawkins: “if you reach out to people who have absolutely no intention of reaching back to you, then you may be disillusioned.”
Evil? On what basis, Mr. Dawkins, on what basis?
What did he say in this piece that struck you as foolish?
Explain yourself.
It’s that “impose our will” part that defines the inherent evil of Islam. It isn’t distinctly different than other philosophies that seek to impose their will, like Nazism, Communism, the Democratic Party and the American left. ...Things always go bad when despotic institutions begin imposing their will on those who disagree, and Islam has a long history of badness, not only for what it does to those who disagree, but for what it does to those who do agree.
Western civilization has no business playing with Islam. Our own leaders are bad enough without injecting foreign poison into society.
About every atheist i know goes against what they perceive to be the “easiest and most tolerant religious target” first, thus showing how WEAK they really are.
Related to the article (at least the few sentences I scanned), Dawkins' rationale seemed 'foolish' (or at least not well thought out). E.g., 'Islam is evil because it's adherents believe every word in the Koran'.
Well, Christians believe every word in the Bible. The differences are the contents.
Also, the Bible-believer understands that many (most?) people are going to reject God's Word. Nonetheless, we are to love our neighbors (knowing that at one time we were also Christ rejectors), and keep pointing people to Christ.... And beheading those that reject the Word is kind of frowned upon...
Oh, OK

"Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock!" (Psalm 137:9)
I was reading that Psalm this morning. Do you understand the context?
Dawkins cried wolf a few too many times.
Dawkins: Islam is one of the great evils in the world
Well.... DUH!... Dawkins is very slow witted..
