Back when GWB was running the first time, his early stockpile of cash steamrolled over the primary campaigns of Dan Quayle and Steve Forbes. People were fooled by GWB's rhetoric, and with no DC voting record he was able to present himself as a conservative.

The nation would be a very different place today if a Quayle/Forbes (or the reverse) ticket had become president.

Maybe so but this will be a Presidential race and seems more voters apprear
than in off years. Thus funds are more important to reach those type voters. JMO
