You are wrong. In Texas lethal force is legal to protect property after dark - no claim of self defense is necessary.

Now if “baiting” were involved that might change things- but in past cases baiting usually involved enticing a specific person over via phone or other means. Never heard of a case like this in Texas. Would likely depend on the Jury. Still, Bad idea to do what this guy did, regardless of legality.

You aren't the first person to say that. But if you look at what I said and what I replied to you'll see that I was specifically talking about a claim of self-defense. So I'm not wrong. Circumstances where you may use force that aren't self-defense have no bearing.
