I agree. She was hoping he would curtail his behavior long enough for them to get back in the White House so they could control the situation.

Jokes aside, the peculiar timing could easily be construed by a prosecuter as bribing/influencing a potential witness in an ongoing criminal investigation.
She's been through a lot more than this (Whitewater, travelgate, etc.). This one's nothing to her and won't stop her from doing whatever she's doing.
