I told my wife, and truly believe, winning that amount of money would ruin any normal person’s life. You’d never have a moment of peace unless you moved to a deserted island.
Between family and outsiders looking for something, it would be awful.
On the bright side, you'd be able to afford one.
‘it would be awful.’
Yes. I can hardly wait.
I used to think that if I won (I have 14 picks) I’d end up face down in a gutter dead and broke. I’ve been broke and recovered nicely and I’m not afraid of dying as long as I have a good time getting there ; )
It would be entertaining to turn down those asking for a hand out and more entertaining to establish a foundation to direct gifts to worthy public and private charities. The parties you get in invited to can be pretty awesome!
It took eight posts before you came along and spoke truth.
I tend to agree with you, having said that I bought some tix for tonight’s drawing,
My wife and I talk about how it would be better to win a small prize, you know, a couple of mil, to make retirement (a few years away) a bit more comfy.
But here in MD, winners can stay anonymous. LOL. Like that would work with the big mouths in my family. Maybe I could buy their silence.
It depends on how nice a person you are. I personally would really enjoy saying no to many many people, rudely, profanely, and loudly. It would even become my voicemail message “if you want money #$%^&^”. That would probably be the best part.
And then...your full-time job would be managing those monies.
Which would create some interesting dilemma's....
You could no longer live a suburban US lifestyle. On the other hand, you could easily buy your way into Monaco or Switzerland or Singapore, where your new wealth would barely be sufficient to attract any notice - and the pesky relatives couldn't really afford to come visit you :)
