New Jersey teens, Matt Molinari and Eric Schnepf, were hoping to make a few bucks shoveling snow in their neighborhood.
But police ruined their plans when they told the teens they needed a permit to promote their services.

After Sandy, one of the nightly newscasts featured a ‘ride along’ with code enforcement on Long Island....cracking down on illegal tree trimmers.
The cops were responding to a complaint.
They’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t.
.
someone likely called the Police on the kids
Sheriff’s Deputy rolled up, explained the situation, and helped the kids move the table onto the grass. His final act was to buy a cup of lemonade, from the kids ;)
Meanwhile, criminals are robbing, rapists are raping, murderers are murdering. But the cops are talking to kids who shovel snow.
Like a town selectman who had the DPW workers clear his snow.
This is an excellent use of Police time.
Because solving crimes like these make the world a safer place.
Solving crime is not on the agenda of the police, in my experience.
The world has gone mad.
Too damn many laws out there.
Wow.
I hope the politicians who are in charge of this law use it for re-election:
“Harry Smith. Tough on crime. Cracking down on teenage snow shovellers.”
Yet they let parents marry their children, NJ is one messed up state
New Jersey is home to an alarming number of fascists.
The People’s Republic of China is now officially more free than the US.
Excellent!
This country needs about 100,000 more like him.
Mr. Plow called the cops.
Atlas is shrugging
Pretty lucky, we are. Lowest crime rate, for a city our size (50,000) in California, last year. The cops come down like a ton of bricks, when genuine bad guys need it, but pretty much everyone I know, myself included, has gotten at least one free pass, for minor issues.
Its a good thing we live in a free country, isn’t it?
The problem is that this was illegal at all. We shouldn’t have stupid laws and then somehow assume that cops won’t enforce them.
People can sneak into this country, in the process committing all kinds of fraud. Take jobs OFF THE BOOKS, file bogus tax returns, and be IGNORED by “law enforcement” when “law enforcement” specifically come across them yet our own kids can’t make a buck shoveling snow!
