If the roughly four to five million immigrants who could benefit from President Barack Obamas executive order were to be deported, it would come with a price tag of about $25 billion.
That was the estimate by Politico, which said it came up with the figure based on a variety of sources.
Politico estimated that it costs roughly $7,200 to deport someone. The Department of Homeland Security told Politico that it costs closer to $8,661.
Deportations have skyrocketed under Obama, reaching a record more than 2 million since he became president.
The president, however, has accused Congress of not budgeting enough funds to properly enforce immigration laws, Politico noted.
A report from the Department of Justices Office of Legal Counsel said that Obamas executive action is designed to respond to the practical reality that the number of aliens who are removable under the [Immigration and Naturalization Act] vastly exceeds the resources Congress has made available to DHS for processing and carrying out removals.

Good article. Only now it’s not just the farmers wanting cheap labor. Now since we have to supply free education, healthcare, and other benefits, teachers unions and social workers want more illegals because that means more jobs for them.
“Deportations have skyrocketed under Obama, reaching a record more than 2 million since he became president”
Lie.

Why are they saying this? Who cares what it would cost “in theory”, it’s insane to think Obama will deport even the worst criminal of the lot
First of all, horse hockey on the $8,661 per deportation. Second, we won’t be able to capture all the illegals (not even close), so your little straight multiplication of illegals and fluffed up deportation figure is the wrong premise. And third, if we DID come close to deporting all illegals, surely we could come up with more cost efficient methods of deportation, like buying a bus.
ONLY $25 Billion? That is GREAT, for if it means that conservatives retain some some power in the government, then spending will be at least 10 TIMES LESS than that number, PER YEAR (maybe 50 times less).
If instead these Illegals become legal voters, and Democrats become a permanent majority, that $25 Billion will seem like the BEST BARGAIN that we ever walked away from.
Maybe they just need a history lesson to see how much it really costs, Ike did it with 750 agents,in short order.

Exactly what I was going to say
What are the rule of law, and national sovereignty, and national security, and the integrity of our territory, worth anyhow?
Seems to me that they're priceless.
Spot on. Take away the incentives and they’ll go away. Simple. as. that.
It’s worth it. Send them home.
There's no way it would cost that much to rent the cattle trucks.
The Air Force could schedule their training flights and maximize savings to coincide with departures using C-5 and C-17 transport aircraft.
Turn off the free tax dollar spigot and watch about 90% or more self-deport pronto.
