My very first duty station out of boot camp. Took the Blue Streak, an old decrepit 1950’s bus, from Palm Springs Airport to the base in May 1973. Quite the climate change from someone used to Alaska summers! I was there until December, having completed basic electronics and telephone switchboard repair. January 1974 saw me going to an Army base at Fort Monmouth for my final school.
