reiterated Sunday that he is looking at the possibility of a presidential campaign "very, very seriously" but declined to hit back against criticism lobbed at him by a fellow Texas Republican.
In an interview with The Washington Post this week, former Texas governor Rick Perry jabbed at Cruz, noting that President Obama was also a young U.S. senator when he was elected as president.
I think its one of the selling points, if you will, to the American people as they decide who is going to follow Barack Obama, Perry said. I think theyre going to make a rather radical shift away from a young, untested United States senator whose policies have really failed.

Cruz, speaking on CNN's "State of the Union," shrugged off the criticism and said that Perry had done a good and effective job as governor.
"People occasionally throw rocks in politics," Cruz said. "That's his choice."
Cruz said on ABC's "This Week" that former Florida governor Jeb Bush (R) is going to have to "make the case" to Republican primary voters about his record, including his support for the Common Core standards and stance on immigration.
"What I would urge every Republican thinking about running to do -- and this is true of senators, of governors -- stand up and lead," Cruz said. "I'd be thrilled if six months from now, we have a half dozen Republicans standing and leading and making the case. There is a better way."
Cruz appeared on both programs from Germany, where he is attending the Munich Security Conference.

Nah, I just need one for me.
I'd love to be wrong. Check back on this post in about 4 years.
Not give up, regroup. Focus efforts away from the national scene (the country that is about to fall, remember) and on to the states, which will survive the breakup. Ted Cruz may be President of the Southern Alliance someday. No, I am not kidding. I wish I was.
I do come across old threads once in a while, so it is very possible we could see this one again in 2019
Unreal.
So you just... give up, right?
Think you’re on the wrong forum, friend.
Sarah Palin found out that the Vice Presidency, or indeed ANY national office, is not worth the politics of personal destruction. You think they went after Palin? You WAIT to see what they will do to Cruz. I hope he can withstand the loss of a loved one. You don't think the Progressives aren't capable of that? You need only to ask who Hillary's and Obama's mentors were.
And General Washington knew the value of a strategic retreat.
Nope, not give up. Let (fill in the blank RINO) go against Hitlery, lose of course, and let the fall of America be on Hitlery's watch. Meanwhile, we go all "Liberty Amendments" on all of them-- full ratification. It's the only way America doesn't fall.
And by the way--Mark Levin agrees.
Best of LUCK, dearest Marcella!
I know exactly what they’re capable. So do those people like Cruz and Palin who put themselves out there.
Either way, it’s not for you to say what they do; your - and my - wants are not even in this picture, which is much bigger than us.
We’re all here for a reason, friend; some of us have larger parts to play than other folks do. There’s a reason people like Cruz and Palin come along when they do.
We all have a part to play - whether it’s Foot Soldier, or General or all points in between.
They’ll play theirs - or not.
But giving up, and leaving the wolves to take the field only gets your wounded eaten and your history erased.
Not an option for me.
“...And by the way—Mark Levin agrees. ...”
Mark Levin doesn’t mean squat in this. He’s not the one running.
And letting Hitlery - Or Fauxahontas Warren walk away with this and WRECK IT completely, after so many people DIED to make America a reality over the last two centuries is completely NOT an option. It’s disgusting to me.
If that’s what you think should happen, again, I think you’re in the wrong forum.
I suspect you and I agree on a great many things, but this is not one of them.
Except General Washington didn’t retreat at Trenton. He stood and fought. He knew the odds were against the continental army, but he fought anyway.
I admit I’m as nihilistic about the fed as you are on some days, and I have my own razor blades, and the bigger they are, the harder they fall....
Let’s just say I’ll throw in the towel when Ted does.
Cruz, please don’t pull a Palin!
If America survives through 2016, Hillary will be the next ruler. America is under judgement and won’t repent by then.
However, Palin refused to fight and throw her hat in the race. To me Reagan could have done the exact same thing in 1980, but he fought against the MSM, Hollywood and the liberals and he whipped their ass. Hopefully, Ted Cruz is a fighter and if he runs and fights for conservatism I predict he will be the next president and will be able to make positive change. He won't be able to change a thing or fight for conservatism if he sits on the bench because he's too scared to run for the Presidency.
You're right. That is small potatoes.
“...Lets just say Ill throw in the towel when Ted does....”
Bingo.
And even then, IF he did... I won’t.
Ted’s good enough for Texas, that’s good enough for me.
Wrong-o, Evil. He snuck in at night, caught the Hessians drunk and stupid, and waxed'em proper. He also had a damn good spy in the neighborhood.
BTW, you need to get away from Old George as a Saint. Read
It's his own notes on the war. No saint, and lucky for us, no dummie, either! Let him be an inspiration to Cruz.
BTW.... Is there a FReeper out there who cannot recognize the MSM's fiendish conspiracy against Cruz?
"Let the Republicans ... all 50 of 'em) knock each other out in the primaries until the tattooed fatties in the Wal-Mart Parking Lot who decide elections (along with Ferguson Riot Types) get bored with'em, then we sneak in Hillary."
True on the part of catching them drunk and stupid, and while he started a night march, he arrived in the morning during daylight. And while the hessians might have been drunk and stupid, their powder was dry. The continental army went in with bayonets due to their powder being wet.
As for old George not being a saint, I have no doubt he was no saint. But, he’s still the one figure in history I look up to. And he’s the one figure in history our children should look up to.
