What makes you say that Ted Cruz cannot win nationally? I seem to recall the same talk in the 1977-1980 era about another conservative. BTW, Ted Cruz won over 40% of the Hispanic vote in 2012. Any Republican that can win 40% of those voters in a national race is the next president.

I have thought for years that an agreement was made between the left and right parties to each take two terms and then swap. It seems that has been the norm........

In Texas, in 2012, Mitt Romney got 100,000 more votes than Cruz.

Romney also beat Cruz by percentage:

Romney: 57.1%
Cruz: 56.4%
