The police are not mental health counselors, marriage counselors, rehab counselors, family coaches, anger management mediators, bed-checkers, dietary managers, or clergy in a pinch.

Your loved ones and family are your responsibility, not a 911 dispatcher’s and certainly not anyone carrying a gun!
I have no qualms whatsoever calling the police in a distant city to check on a family member.
