Interesting that two of the biggest proponents of polygamy, Muslims and Mormons, both have ‘sacred’ stones as an important historical basis for their beliefs. The Muslims have the Black Stone set in the corner of the Kaaba. The Mormons have the Urim and Thummim stones somewhere. Both groups have set the stones in rings of metal. The Muslims teach that the Black Stone was allegedly sent from God to Adam and Eve. Joseph Smith used the Urim and Thummim stones, allegedly sent from God, to translate the Book of Mormon from “reformed Egyptian” into English.
Perhaps these ‘sacred’ stones do weird things to men. One look at an image of the Black Stones and their silver mounting goes a long way in why some men may fall under a bit of a spell, especially since they are supposed to kiss it!
A bad husband will hit his wives unequally - wife A gets, say, whacked 8 times on one day, meanwhile wife B only gets whacked 4 times. A good husband will whack evenly. Balanced hitting only!

If I had a muslim husband, I would want to share duties with as many other women as possible. The less I had to see him, the better. Perhaps this is how it works.
Don’t moslem women state that marriage is a legal “rent” paid by the husband to have bodily pleasures as the wife gets other things she normally would n’t have or could afford in a man dominated society where she is not free to make her own decisions...this contract and the items that eventually come with it - are hidden behind the walls of the house...in return she produces off spring to guarantee the mans lineage...they are used as bartering tools - nothing else...
I remember in Kuwait waiting for my flight and seeing the long line of women then children - then servants - all walking behind a very large Saudi male...I wonder what the feminist would think of that...???

Working in Saudi I see this all the time. The older wives develop all kinds of neurotic complaints for attention when hubby marries a new 17 yo. So frequent visits together for vague complaints, which when added together = depression.
I’ve been embarrassed when some 60 yo goat comes in and what I thought was his “daughter” was in fact his wife....
Abramham, Sarah and Hagar are a historical example of he devastation brought by such relationships. From Hagar come the Arabic peoples AND their hatred for Jews.

She forgot to mention that in Islam, theologically and legally, women have half the value of men, so I guess if you’re going to have a whole marriage, you pretty much have to have at least a 1:2 male-to-female ratio.

Actually there are already many polygamous relationships right now in USA both Mormon and muslim.
Only one wife is legally married but the other 2-4 live like wives, have children that we the taxpayer support.
I wonder if having laws allowing legal multiple marriages would make much of a difference
