“At this point, the bulk of the effort NBC puts into this, will be in trying to figure the most graceful way out of their relationship with him.”
I tend to agree. The Tonight Show appearance is probably there to give him a last-ditch effort to save his bacon, but the network has to know the guy’s credibility is most likely shot with their viewers.
Oh, they know alright. They're the Twitternet generation, and are following all of the outrage, indignation, and ridicule exploding across cyberspace.
The top brass at GE/NBC must be in round-the-clock strategy meetings as we speak. This guy was the very face of their entire enterprise, and now the whole world has his number as a pathetic liar who stole the valor of real heroes.
I guarantee you, this boondoggle is already with the lawyers, who are working out how to separate Brian from the company, while protecting their corporate interests.
Worst of all for them, is their reputation as a news organization is now in the toilet with many libs. I mean, lots of people at NBC knew for over a decade that this guy was lying about this story, but no one at the top did a thing to stop him. Now they will pay.
