Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura ratcheted up his rhetoric against Chris Kyle, the subject of the widely cheered American Sniper movie, suggesting that the now-deceased U.S. Navy SEAL was hardly the hero that hes painted that if you think about it, even the Nazis had heroes.
A hero should have honor, Mr. Ventura said during an interview on Fox News Radio with Alan Colmes. A hero is not how many people youve killed. You know hes obviously a great sniper. Hes obviously a great shot. He obviously did his job correctly. Alan, let me fire this one at you: Do you think the Nazis have heroes?
Mr. Colmes said the Nazis fought for a cause we cant condone, the transcript of the interview stated.
And Mr. Venturas reply: Wait. Wait. Wait...

In an earlier thread on Ventura, someone posted “Professional wrestling: Where the bouts are scripted but the brain damage is all too real”. Gotta agree.
It is a highly technical argument that the general public won’t understand or care about, and Ventura is entitled to call himself a SEAL “NOW”, since 1983.
The fact is that he wasn’t a SEAL during his military service and didn’t go through the additional 26 weeks of training to do so, Ventura trained as UDT and served with the UDT, finishing his training at the UDT level.
BUT,,,, due to the fact of SEALs tracing their lineage to UDT and elimination of the UDT in 1983, and the NAVY policy resulting from UDT being (mostly) merged into the SEALs after further training in 1983, all past UDT are allowed to call themselves SEALs and wear the current Trident.
You can also remind people that UDT existed from 1943 through 1983 as a UDT unit doing UDT work, and that the SEALs were created as a different unit with a different mission and advanced combat/commando skills, as a separate entity in 1962 and that UDT and SEALs were different units with different training, and served as such for 20 years simultaneously, including during the Vietnam war and Jesse Ventura’s time in the military.
Jesse seriously and knowingly misleads when he describes himself as a SEAL, and he lies when he tells the public that he fought in Vietnam, and especially when he rounds it off as ‘fighting as a SEAL in Vietnam’, which isn’t a direct quote, but what he has tried to claim in the past.
—the Nazis had soldiers that they considered heroes. So did the Japanese, and I hold out the possibility that the Italians also could have.—
LOL, for real? The Italians could barely defeat the Ethiopians, who I believe were all armed with rocks.
Thanks for the information.
Like it or not, Chris Kyle looks like he made up an incident regarding Jessie in his book, so to think that there is no bad blood between these two is silly. Jessie won his side in court, so, obviously Jessie doesn’t hold Mr Kyle in the highest esteem and based on the court case and outcome it seems rightly so. Chris Kyle did his job with distinction and honor, but he certainly was no saint, and if you have read his book you’d know that, from his own words.
Sorry, but from all evidence this incident never happened.
The guy’s dead. Jesse’s had his say. To keep beating on it is to keep beating on a dead guy who can’t answer back. That is neither a smart nor an honorable course of action. IMHO, of course.
Romans 12:19, Jesse.
He is legally entitled to call himself a SEAL, but he is still misleading.
I bet that doesn’t clear it up much does it?
He wasn’t a SEAL during his time in service, after becoming a UDT man he did not go into SEAL training, and that is why he was UDT and not a SEAL, he never served as a SEAL, or with the SEALs.
Since he is a celebrity who has made a point to misleadingly exploit being a SEAL (with asterisk) and falsely claimed stolen valor as a SEAL in Vietnam “hunting men”, when he actually never saw combat, but instead was in the Philippines, he is a sleazy guy.
Jesse made the remark at the wake for Mike Mansoor sp?, a fellow SEAL. Nice timing, you idiot Jesse.
The one with the comma. You know I thought about setting his name off with a comma but it seemed to give him too much respect for some reason. Never thought about it changing the meaning.
Should have said the line out loud I guess
I believe Jesse’s brother served as a real-deal SEAL in Vietnam. Chris served as a combat SEAL. Jesse was a punk coward that chased hookers in the Philippines as a UDT frogman instead of volunteering for Vietnam an serving as a SEAL. He has little pecker coward syndrome.
Finally, an apt description. Thanks.
My girl, Bill.
Yes, because a public incident in a public bar never has any witnesses, and of course a surviving wife and millions of dollars cannot find the friends and comrades of Mr Kyle to stand up and speak on his behalf.
Sorry, not buying your argument. I grew up in a military family, and witnesses would have been lining up out to the door to testifyl on behalf of a comrade in arms if the events went down like Kyle described for him.
I admit, it’s completely theoretical.
That could very well be the case. He’s not acting in the normal range.
A hero should have honor,
Dear Jesse “thekingnozzle of the douche hall of fame” Ventura,
You sir are no hero!
