Olympia, WA Liberty activists and gun owners organized by Liberty for All and The Patriots Stand are converging at the WA State Capitol in Olympia on Saturday at a rally meant to protest and violate new rules imposed by the legislature banning open carry in public viewing galleries.
The Washington State Patrol is expected to arrest anyone entering the viewing chambers openly carrying a firearm, although individuals with a concealed pistol license will be allowed to carry concealed weapons into the chambers.
If the legislature feels the need, said Sam Wilson of Liberty for All, to prohibit peaceful citizens from openly carrying firearms into the peoples viewing chamber, it certainly makes a reasonable person question what motivates them to disarm the people viewing them while they are in session, serving as the representatives of the people.
The activists have expressed firm resolve to enter the chambers while openly carrying, but have made it clear they are planning a peaceful event, and have no animosity towards the Washington State Patrol.

I would hope not. We've been holding similar protests here in CO since July 1st 2013, when our magazine limit (15 rounds) and background check laws went into effect. On July 4, 2013, a 30 round mag could be had for $15...that seems to be the going rate, any time the Mesa County Patriots hold an event. When we first did it, it was on the County Courthouse lawn, surrounded by local PD & SO who actually support us.

Me too — But the way things are coming down we have two forces: those who are trying to exert control, and those who see that as unlawful. The former has the power of government on his side, and we know that those in power are disinclined to relinquish it. So, it’s only a matter of time before force enters the picture.
The ironies run deep. Just like ISIS shooting itself in the foot by committing an insane public relations policy in thinking that horrifying acts of violence will spread fear and weaken resistance to their Sharia mentality, so do the “open carry” idiots shoot themselves in the brain by creating a spectacle that every anti-gun nut on the planet wet dreams about. Open carry is either a stupid mistake or the strategy of the closet Nazi element in conservative socio-politics. It will do nothing but strengthen the anti-gun nut cadres by inviting reaction and violent provocations that will not play well on the 6:00 news.
Gun owners who love their rights should battle against this “wild West” idiocy. Or prepare to live with the results.
The super majority D's in Oregon are chomping at the bit to pass more and more gun laws. It is now 5 or 6 counties that are putting the legislators on notice that they are going to be following the state and federal constitutions, thank you very much.
Do they have the ability to hold a recall in Oregon like we do here in Colorado?
I am sure we have the ability, but Oregon voters, well the city dwellers determine all elections. Rural Oregon is cared about by no one in Salem, Portland or Eugene. They haven’t passed any restrictive legislation yet, just starting this session. The pro gun lobbyists are taking these county commissioners resolutions to “not comply” to the legislature to show them that the Sheriffs and County commissioners in a lot of counties are refusing to obey any unconstitutional laws they pass.
The display of national flags includes the flags of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (not a nation) and the U. N., also not a national government.
You make a good point as everything in our culture is now political it subsequently matters most how it is sold rather that what and who it affects.
I am surprised to learn that concealed weapons can be carried into the state Capitol.
You can’t carry any weapon into the King County Courthouse.
So, guns are OK where they make state laws, but not where they enforce them.
I wish we here in Josephine county were as conservatives as y’all in DougCo.
I seriously doubt you’d see that petition down here...

In Alaska and Montana open carry was so common no one blinked twice, I think that’s what the open carry advocates hope for, for it to become routine.

I sympathize with the sentiment but we gotta realize that warfare is no longer about control of territory but control of perceptions. This is the info age and it’s all about psyops.
