... Among them will be Ted Cruz, who from the inception of his political career a dozen years ago has used his rhetorical wits to establish himself as a true conservative. The result is that the junior senator from Texas has become the darling of the GOP's right flank, many of whom are enthusiastic about the idea of electing him our next president. I'm not one of them. It works to a political speaker's favor to tell his audience what they want to hear. Cruz was a champion debater in college, so he knows how to score points with the judges. Certainly he feels comfortable in his conservative shoes. But of late, Ted Cruz has tweaked this comfort zone a few notches to a rather self-serving, holier-than-thou assumption that he is the only viable Republican presidential candidate who holds consistently to conservative beliefs.

You know, my brother-in-law is 2nd generation Hispanic from Andrews, Texas. He went to Texas Tech, got his MBA at UTD. Worked his way through school. Now works for Goldman-Sachs. Has a BIG, brand new house in Allen, Texas. Has a condo in Mexico. Has three SUV’s and a BMW. Takes good care of my sister (who is the whitest WASP who ever stung) and my three nephews. He’s a good man.
As conservative as any ten of you put together. And as American. He’s also a bible thumping, hell fire and brimstone First Baptist Churcher. Teaches Sunday school.
He speaks Spanish and English fluently. GET A GRIP.
Explain how Ted Cruz is a “crass opportunist” or shut the F up!
You say the stupidest things!
I don’t want amnesty, PERIOD. Walker the past 2 years has been for amnesty and open HB1 visas. He is therefore dangerous. Would you feel better if we deported all white illegals first? Have at it!
Some weird flying monkeys they’re sending us today, no?
GO CRUZ!!!!
Yeah....recent signups, always with no home page, or state : )
Its all is about the 11 million [undocumented immigrants], Walker said. You hear some people talk about border security and a wall and all that. To me, I dont know that you need any of that if you had a better, saner way to let people into the country in the first place.
Walker added: If people want to come here and work hard in this country, I dont care if you come from Mexico or Canada or Ireland or Germany or South Africa or anywhere else. I want them here.
I think all politicians at such a high level are “different”.
Like I’ve always said .. the rabid left will always tell you who they FEAR the most.
I think this article does just that .. it tells me this person is terrified of a Cruz Presidency.
Why ..?? Well, maybe they already understand that Cruz might do a wholesale house-cleaning .. and unearth a lot of dirty linen in it’s wake. Hmmmmm ..??
Um, aren’t those both pretty liberal publications?
Those are verbatim quotes......NOT out of context.
I did not say he was I was responding to another poster. I do not think he is as for my comment pardon me all to hell for pissing in your wheaties. You’ll get over it though.
I'm so tired of this whole "executive experience" argument. Are we supposed to believe that Carter was better than Lincoln because he was a Governor? (Honestly, I'm not really a Lincoln fan but that's irrelevant). 320-something million people in this country and only 50 are capable of being president because they're governors??
I've already said that I'm all-in for Cruz, even if I have to write in his name. That doesn't mean I don't like Walker, but something about this whole thing makes me uncomfortable.
Why, after a single speech in Iowa, does Walker suddenly demolish Cruz in poll after poll, even among conservatives? Cruz's speech was arguable better, but at least as good. We already know that the establishment will do just about ANYTHING to block conservatives like Cruz, but I have yet to hear them attack Walker (of course it's possible that I missed it).
Walker's tough on unions -- I support that stance 100%, but Christie is too, and he'll NEVER get my vote. Walker tiptoes around the immigration issue, and says he's against deportation. The law is the law. Is he going to enforce it (through deportation) or not? Walker either used up his fight during his recall election, or he's just not that principled.
Walker seems like a conservative to me, but I haven't seen any fight in him since his recall. Cruz is not afraid to put his position out there, and he can articulate it well because I honestly believe he means it. He will go toe-to-toe with any of them and will not hide from the issues.
Walker's views just don't seem to be very well-defined on many issues. While things like abortion and the 2nd amendment are VERY important to me, there are many other important issues that the next president will be more likely to deal with. I want a SOLID conservative, and I know I get that with Cruz. We don't have time for anything else. For now, Walker can stay in my second place spot thought.
CRUZ or LOSE!
We don’t have time for anything else.
You don’t let arsonists remain on the loose. Cruz is hated and feared because they know he has them in his crosshairs, something you can’t say for ANY other American politician who is running for POTUS.
Once we’ve rebuilt America to pre-2008 levels, we can entertain lightweights like Walker again.
I am in NO WAY attacking Cruz, I am just stating the TRUTH he has NO experience governing being a Senator with a Law degree does not give you experience governing!!!!! Our BEST presidents have been governors
first!!!!!
I can GUARANTEE you Cruz WILL NOT deport the illegal aliens here already if he IS elected MARK MY WORDS you are dreaming!!!!!!!
and here it comes . . Teds probably stepping on some RINO feet ,so they try to smear him. To me it means he’s on the right track. I expect the vitriol on the left to exceed the vitriol by so-called establishment Repubs.
I’m so tired of this whole “executive experience” argument.
I’m not talking about “generic” experience. I’m talking about accomplishments.
I don’t think there is any way you can possibly assert that the author is a member of “the rabid left”. She is a legitimate conservative who has problems with Ted Cruz.
Members of the “rabid left” may, indeed, fear Cruz. You would have to look at publications like The Nation, Salon, Rolling Stone, Think Progress and such, and evaluate the writings of the lefties who appear on them to determine that.
My take is they still hate and fear Palin the most.
