Left-leaning documentary filmmaker Michael Moore has come under fire from conservatives over his criticism of "American Sniper," but it turns out his cold war with the biopic's director, Clint Eastwood, started ten years earlier.
Moore took to Facebook to confirm a report on Salon that Eastwood had threatened to shoot him during the 2005 National Board of Review dinner. Moore had been in attendance to receive an award for his scathing indictment of the Bush administration, "Fahrenheit 9/11," while Eastwood was being honored for "Million Dollar Baby."
"Ten years ago this past week, Clint Eastwood stood in front of the National Board of Review awards dinner and announced to me and to the crowd that he would "kill" me if I ever came to his house with my camera for an interview," Moore wrote on his Facebook page late Thursday about the Jan. 11, 2005, incident.
"'I'll kill you," Eastwood declared, according to the post.

A “Get off the World’s Lawn” threat, from Eastwood?
Its too bad Moore never showed up with his camera at Clint Eastwood’s house.
To bad he didn’t follow through. Just say’n
Make my day.
Moore as the victim - “an 84 year old man once threatened to kill me”.
I might do the same if I ever ran into that pile of Crisco!
How can Moore “confirm” anything? He can only make claims, and his credibility is somewhere in the sewage treatment plant.
OK to clarify, Moore was to be killed at Eastwood’s house, not at an award ceremony,
I already liked Clint Eastwood. Which branch of the service was Mike in again?
Moore ambushed Charlton Heston in his own house with his camera for his phony anti-gun “documentary” when Heston already had Alzheimer’s. That was the context in which Clint spoke.
Moore is garbage.
“I’m going to kill you” is not the same as “I’ll kill you IF...”
Eastwood did it because of the disgusting thing Moore did with an ailing Heston in his movie. The other thing Moore does not get is that Eastwood was playing a role. If Moore had any character at all he should have shown up at Eastwood’s. He could not honestly believe Eastwood wood gun him down on his lawn. Moore makes a living out of blind siding and embellishment.
“A shooting isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It depends on who’s getting shot.”
‘Harry Callahan’
Darn, if only Clint had followed through, we wouldn’t have to deal with that lard a@@ running his mouth all the time
Yes you are right.
Here’s the context of that “Kill” comment:
Back in 2005, Eastwood confronted left-wing filmmaker Michael Moore at the National Board of Review dinner, where both men were being honored for films. In Eastwoods case, it was Million Dollar Baby.
In Moores case, it was the anti-gun documentary Bowling for Columbine. Moores film includes a notorious scene in which he interviews a feeble Charlton Heston, then president of the National Rifle Association.
After Eastwood accepted his award, he directed some comments at Moore. Michael Moore and I actually have a lot in common we both appreciate living in a country where theres free expression, he said.
Eastwood then added: But, Michael, if you ever show up at my front door with a camera Ill kill you.
The audience laughed and Eastwood grinned.
I always liked Clint, I like him more after this statement. Million Dollar Baby, a great and moving movie. I’ve never watched a slob Moore movie, imagine that.
