These people are not scmucks. But I agree with the premise. Being a strong conservative in belief and action does not equate to good leadership at a federal level. In my opinion the most qualified are those governors who have strong beliefs and action. The Republicans are fortunate to have several that fill the bill and proved beyond a shadow of a doubt they are top drawer leaders. And they are the ones, IMO, on whom we should be focused.
Sarah was a good governor but she has passed her political prime. Christie is too glib of tongue. Jeb has a Common Core” and amnesty problem. Romney would be a great president but his Massachusetts health plan and Mormon faith will keep him out of the WH, Kasich is an Obamacare advocate, so what Governors are remaining? Walker and Perry, both of whom have been not just good governors, but outstanding. So much for my considered opinion.
Then she ran for Governor and won. When she was tapped for VP her favorable's were at 80%. SHE did all of this with support from men in her life but no man paved her way or lit a torch for her.
That is what I like the best about Sarah Palin, successful, accomplished with little help from a man, should be perfect in a woman's lib eyes, but she committed the cardinal sin, she kept her down syndrome baby, they hate her for that. She stood strong while everyone pummeled her and her family with lies and innuendo and half truths. They succeeded in destroying her political career, she will never get elected to be POTUS, I hope she just keeps getting in the control freaks faces and endorsing tea party candidates.

You can take all the flotsam and jetsam from 2008 or 2012 and say the same thing about any of them: Herman Cain, Michelle Bachmann, Rick Santorum or even my least favorite of the group: Huckabee.
All of these have problems ranging from the superficial (Palin doesn't talk to please Ivy Leaguers) to the serious (Rick Santorum lost his last statewide race in Pennsylvania by nearly 20 points to a cardboard cut-out), but any of them would present far more qualifications than the present occupant of the office.

Palin worked her way up the ladder on her own, and proved to be one of the incredibly few willing to buck the whole corrupt, crony system, even going after those in her own Party. Her whole career fits the Jeffersonian ideal.
Gillespie? Those doofuses at the “Reason” message-boards were all celebratory at Obama’s victory in 2008, and thrilled with the defeat of McCain-Palin. Gillespie looks like a haggard, burned-out, dopehead moron, always clad in his leather jacket, going for some kind of urban hipster vibe, wallowing in detached irony. Like this pathetic puke is even fit to shine Palin’s shoes.
Guys like this remind me of why I don’t call myself libertarian. I am sympathetic with the philosophy but most of the ardent ones are more interested in articulating how smart they are for not being Republicans (for the record I don’t call myself that either).
Romney is a lying Fabian socialist. The son of a Saul Alinsky supporting father and an Abortion Barbie mother. A dangerous combination no conservative should even imagine supporting.
Really? Well she nailed Obama in her Convention speech when everyone else was hiding. She accurately predicted the invasion of Ukraine, She accurately predicted "Death Panels" she was right about "Drill baby Drill!" And so far has been able to run rings around all the super geniuses out there.
If she is a lightweight, all the rest of the field is no-weights.
No, that would be Ronald Reagan, but Palin is certainly near the top of the heap as near as I can tell. Gingrinch (despite all his nonsense) is still a pretty good political thinker too, and I would give Cruz and Walker some very deserved props as well.
I agree; that is one of the things that Perot failed on, as well. Her nasal whine, endless repetition of catch phrases, swallowing of last syllables and confusing mispronunciation of vowels drives me crazy.
Unfortunately, Palin has apparently done nothing about it, whereas Mrs. Thatcher took voice coaching to lower her voice and practice other techniques to make her sound more authoritative and palatable to her audiences.

I agree with you about Walker and to a lesser extent about Perry, but do not discount the efforts that Ted Cruz has made on behalf of restoring sanity to the nation. Ted Cruz strikes me as an effective leader because he doesn't constantly look behind himself to see who might be following. He just leads.
That was what I was thinking. Indeed, I said something similar up above. Reagan was a great thinker whom many portrayed as a lightweight. I recall some conservative columnists (Ann Coulter I think) pointing out that the media has ALWAYS portrayed Republican Presidents as Dumb, or simple.
They did it to Eisenhower, affable, but not a great thinker, Nixon they portrayed as corrupt, Ford was a bumbling fool, Reagan was a senile old man, HW Bush was out of touch, G W Bush was a simpleton, and so on.
That they constantly do it to Palin tells me whom they fear the most. They do not waste their time on Paul or Huckabee.
