I’m all for non-assimilation of muslims in the US... have a ball. So what, if these muslims want to terrorize and behead a few here, aloha akbar murder a bunch there, just like their Hasidim and Amish brethren.

Simplest answer, because it is true.
Sure. A couple hundred thousand (at most) sincere religionists with no history of violence and who actually discourage people from converting, they’re just like millions of Muslims flooding in from violent homelands demanding the imposition of shariah and making violent converts. They’re the same. Really.

One reason might be that Sharia law and the United States Constitution cannot coexist since Sharia law is incompatible with our Constitution. A further reason might be that ultimately Islam would, therefore, lead to the advocacy of the overthrow of our governments by force and violence since Sharia law is filled with unconstitutional violent punishment for all who do not conform to it, which our institutions could not do without throwing out our Constitutions, state and federal.
Didn’t read this but I thought after 9/11 that it’s not assimilation. There are Orthodox Jews who aren’t “assimilated”, the Amish aren’t assimilated, the Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t celebrate Christmas or even birthdays.
But these folks aren’t going around insisting that the rest of us live our lives in comportment with their beliefs and they certainly aren’t chopping anyone’s head off or gunning people down because of it.
So, no, Muslims don’t have to assimilate, what they do have to do is SHUT UP and BEHAVE.
Personally I don’ think they need to assimilate. They need to emigrate back to the Mideast post haste.
