Apple delivered the greatest earnings report in history on Tuesday.
That's not hyperbole. Apple earned $18 billion in net income over the three-month period of October to December 2014. That's more than any other company has ever earned over a three-month span.
Apple earned those mind-melting profits thanks mostly to the iPhone, which is an incredible business.
Apple sold 74.5 million iPhones, up 46% from the year prior. The iPhone generated $51 billion in revenue, giving each iPhone an average selling price of $687.

Its just that Applebots Brag about being overcharged. Which is a huge giggle all by itself!
And you're not really getting any of those for "just $99" either, are you?
You anti-Apple people cannot make a post without insulting an entire group of your fellow Freepers. . . not ever. You have to use slurs, nasty comments, and call names. That demonstrates the sheer bankruptcy of your position.
I think you’re mistaking “reporting in an article” for bragging. Facts are facts, and smart phones are way more expensive than flip phones. If someone wants a smart phone, they’re going to have to pay the price.
What I’m saying is that once someone decides they’re going to get a smartphone (instead of a cheap flip-phone, for example) ... why get a piece of junk like Samsung, and instead, get the best from Apple.
BUT ... certainly ... go for a flip-phone if that’s what you want.
Some of them are going for $0 ... :-) ... at least for “out-of-pocket” and up front. You’ll find that regardless of what people “know” ... this is how the overwhelming majority of buyers like to go!
If they try to tell me it's free, I'll tell they they're lying.
What the telcos “know” is that it’s a business model that WORKS, no matter what you want to say about it. In fact, you could be standing right next to those consumers and yelling in their ear ... and they would still like the deal of not having to take money out-of-pocket to get it.
I don't care what their "business model" is. If they tell me it's free, I'll still tell them they're lying. If you tell me it's only $99 I'll tell you the same thing, and you know damned well the consumer ended up paying full price for that phone by the time the contract was up.
No, Jim said that if you don't like a thread, don't read it. . . stay out. Don't comment. He was quite explicit. He explicitly stated that flame wars were not allowed on FreeRepublic. . . and you keep trying to start them. He said that people's choice of hardware is not something to criticize and to stop attacking users for their choices. YOU DON'T STOP. . . and even though you've been repeatedly told the truth about us users, you lie about us. You insult us. Please stop.
You are not the administrators of this site. It is not up to you to censure or censor what is posted. . . but you seem to think you have to disrupt threads that have anything to do with Apple or Apple products with your distinct brand of BILE. . . to make them as unpleasant as possible and to INSULT anyone who uses and enjoys Apple products.
We do NOT go on Windows threads and criticize them or their users. . . or on Android threads and insult them or their products. . . even though you repeatedly accuse us of doing so. THEY invade the Apple threads, repeatedly and you are one of the worst repeat offenders.
If you can find an instance of an Apple Mac user Insulting a Windows user by calling them names in a Windows thread, post a link. PLEASE. I am willing to bet you cannot. That seems to be the pattern of you guys. You can't seem to help yourselves.
Frankly, you cannot seem to allow anyone to enjoy themselves. . . and in that way, you are certainly like Liberals.
Basically, what I’m saying is that what you have to say about it doesn’t mean anything to the overwhelming number of consumers. All that is happening here, in a “real-world sense,” is that you’re blowing hot air with no meaning to it at all.
All that is happening is that you’re hearing your own voice bounce off the wall ... :-) ...
Nah, already disproved that misnomer here in the "OMG I'm an Applebot and People say I have superior inteligence because I buy overpriced iGadgets and I brag about it" thread But hey if it makes you feel more secure thinking you had no choice to pay far more for a smartphone then run with that.
No, VanDeKoik, derangement is ignoring facts in front of your face in favor of your version of reality. . . and fantasies. . . and making up your own facts, despite being shown the facts repeatedly, over and over again. . . and ignoring the proof. That is true derangement. You suffer from a severe case of it. We've seen it for years here. Willful derangement.
I’ll guarantee you, you’re not going to buy today’s smartphone at flip-phone prices ... :-) ...
I'm not talking to "the overwhelming number of consumers". I'm talking to you, and you're blowing smoke up my ass.
You know it is a mischaracterization when almost all other flagship phones by all other makers cost a similar amount and that one can purchase one on contract for far less. . . just as you can for any cellular phone. YOU are the one mischaracterizing it. . . for an agenda purpose of your own.
What makes Apple EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL are the overwhelming number of consumers in the market ... and NOT me.
AND ALSO ... what else makes Apple so EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL is it’s ability to get those consumers what they want, even to the point of anticipating those “wants” ahead of time.
“I” don’t make Apple successful ... “they” (those consumers)!do!
True. I mean that last flip phone I bought cost me 35 bucks and a two year contract.
I got two fire phones for 99 cents each and a one year contract which ends up being less than my flip phone. See, I told Sparky you would eventually get one right even if it was by accident.
Found a mind reading app at the Apple Store?
That doesn’t mean I want one of those cheap flip-phones ... and neither does it mean that those other consumers want it either ... :-) ...
That doesn’t change the fact that the $99 phone isn’t really $99. But I think we’re on the same page here. It’s all about marketing and perception. Reality isn’t welcome.
