I have no problem believing that the car can deliver an enormous amount of torque to the wheels.
they're selling a straw man. Instant torque is pretty much meaningless for a grocery getter and daily driver. In fact I wonder if that instant torque isn't particularly dangerous on icy roads that I drive on for 4 months of every year.

People want a car that delivers value.
I have no doubt that is what the Model S PS85D is designed to do.
It adds that fun factor to EV driving and you will impress your GF or wife if you own one and turn on that “insane mode.”

Yes. A 1/4 mile drag strip isn’t a drive to work for sure.

Instant torque only if you want it! Instant torque is MOST fun going to the grocery store! At least for those that enjoy driving mean machines.

No one on the planet considers the Model S a “grocery getter.” It is a luxury car that competes with other luxury cars.
And no, the instant torque is not dangerous on icy roads because it has traction control. That is why you don't see the Model S burning rubber in the video.

What, you think those electric motors aren’t connected to a computer to compensate for road conditions? Even most gas cars, high end anyway, have that now.

What you witnessed was the "insane mode". For your driving needs they have the "granny mode"........LOL!
