Did in my household. We bought three Mac laptops in the past 5 months. I never owned a Mac in my life up till now.
Microsoft screwed the pooch with 8.0/8.1. I use computers mostly for work and don't have time for a learning curve to figure out the three steps it takes to accomplish what I used to do in one. Hell, I'm still learning all the extra bull sh!t steps in Office 2010!
We were gobsmacked with the Windows 8.
We. Hated. It.
Just bought a Mac Pro laptop yesterday.
Got it out of the box today. “Oh Frabjous Day!”
I decided to be deliberate in going through the set up. Smart Phone did not give us a tutorial of any kind, that we could find, nor did Windows.
Mr. Pro started talking to me. When I could not hear what he was saying, I think I missed an opportunity.
After that, I was given as my only option the choice to go through the tutorial on Voice Over Commands. The display MacPros in the store don’t talk to you.
I wrote the commands for each key ALL down. Finally got to the part where you practice them. some of them I was not able to successfully complete even with going back and trying the page again. Kept getting thrown into the “interact with the button” message, which was the “continue” button. The thing actually by passed the practice on the commands. I’m sure I was doing it wrong. But how am I supposed to know?
Finally got to the Review skills page. Unable to complete that page because of my unsuccessful “practices”.
Started over. All of this unsuccessfulness took over 2 hours. I’m not going to give up, but not sure at this point what to do other than give it another shot tomorrow.
*sigh*
