Carwash workers at Vegas Auto Spa in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, N.Y., voted unanimously to join the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU), an affiliate of the United Food and Commercial Workers, on Jan. 24. They have been on strike since late November over what they claim are stolen wages and unsafe working conditions.

These "low skill types", as you call them, will either have jobs or they won't. Since this is Brooklyn, which I know very well, if they don't have jobs they will be either collecting disability (from you), robbing with a deadly weapon (you again), or overdosing on heroin and running up a huge hospital bill (sent to you).
It really is a good solution for them to have jobs. And, "apply themselves in school"? You're kidding, right?
There is zero social value, and a lot of harm, sending people like this to any currently existing school beyond 8th grade. They have already done what they can do.
20% of the men aged 18-53 in the country are not working. This is a recipe for collapse, which is already well under way.
Guys working in car washes (guys like this) is a huge win for society.

Yes, I expect a helluva lot more from this newly elected republican majority as I expect loopholes in going from work to collecting checks and sitting on duff to be implemented. I say no more able bodied folks getting handouts without actively seeking a job. It is high time to stop this insanity and waste.
The carwashes are all staffed by Mexicans, Hondurans, Gautemalans, etc. This isn’t about anything except radicalizing them further and keeping them under the control of the leftist organizers.
