It is mentioned, more than once, in Conspiracy. His Father was a Jew.
Oh! how my heart aches when I consider how horrific some men can be!
Thanks for the link.
I just watched it. It was different than Conspiracy by quite a bit. I think that both are great for different reasons. The pre-meeting with Heydrich, and the idea of ‘complicity’ and becoming an accomplice was overtly stated.
There were excuses about Eichmann’s fainting, and Himmler’s, in the 1984 version.
In the 1984 version, the industrial problem of transport and disposal was obviously discussed. In Conspiracy, the gas chambers remained a rumor up until it was revealed that three permanent camps had been built, with Eichmann’s restatement of the industrial problem in the context of being able to dispatch 60,000 Jews a day.
The arm twisting in Conspiracy is more overt.
The best thing about the 1984 version is the anecdote about the Jews frozen to the train car seats, and prying them up. Also, the overt statement of the systematic liquidation of the intelligentsia and population exchange that didn’t occur in Conspiracy.
You’ve now got me looking for Heydrich’s deathbed confession. It’s Klopfer (Bormann’s guy) that spills to Muller about Heydrich’s Jewish blood.
Heydrich didn’t die right away. Two assassins wounded him and he died as a result of infection some time later. It was Heydrich’s decision to kill everyone in the village.
He was known as ‘the Butcher of Prague’.
It was interesting, in the 1984 version, to hear about the Catholic Church being directly implicated, while in Conspiracy almost nobody survived - the US, England, the Lutherans, definitely not the French. They were all too happy to give over their Jews.
But not Italy. Both versions agreed with that and the 1984 version was more precise about why.
We are living through something very much like this today. You have an ersatz religion that specifically calls for the destruction of the Jewish people, and beyond that all those who will not worship Allah.
You have a world that simply refuses, despite the overwhelming evidence, to believe they actually mean to carry out what they have said they wish to carry out.
There were only 80,000,000 Germans. There are almost a billion Muslims. To quote Erdogan, “There is only one Islam.”
The end of the 1984 version is chilling. Stuckart has given up, and reminds Kritzinger about Mein Kampf, page 772, which specifically calls for the gassing of the Hebrews.
We are living in such interesting and historic times. A friend of mine who advises clients on how to invest their money took me aside privately and asked, “Did you hear about the Swiss peg, and the negative interest rates? Normally I’m a dollar cost average kind of guy, but this is kind of historic in that its never really happened before.”
This will be a year for the history books. It will stand out.
Mine too.
God bless.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
..................
I will watch Alfred Hitchcock's Film Soon.
I am still recovering from Watching Schindler's List for the first time on Sunday.
One German blogger wrote:”What? Are we having to go through anniversaries every five years now?”
One of the best series about The Holocaust was “War and Remembrance.” They could have seriously taken the whole Jastrow storyline and made it its’ own series, rather than the rest of the soap opera-ish storylines involving Pug. Gielgud’s portrayal of the doomed Jastrow was one of the most amazing performances ever. And the scenes were as brutal as anything ever put to film.
(Rolls Eyes) Dumb Ass!
Dummkopf!
I understand, sweet, dearest you.
Pace yourself on these horrifying images. They can break hearts. (((hugs)))
Hard. To. Watch.
God help humanity if that ever happens again.
Except it is...in Africa and in the Middle East.
Probably, the reason Heydrich died was his deep-seated racism. He wouldn't let the Czech doctors treat him because according to his Nazi ideology, they were of an inferior race.
BTW, I believe that today was designated International Holocaust Remembrance Day because it's the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz (by the Soviets, the lesser of the two evils at the time).
No.
Yep, the very same UN that had a real full-blown Nazi, Kurt Waldheim, as Secretary-General.
mark for later, thanks
One must ask the question, why it took 70 years for this film to be aired? In 1945 it was against British foreign policy to make the Jews look like they had a rough time in that war so they kept it under wraps until now. After all, the Jews tried to leave Europe for many destinations including British Mandate Palestine.
That does a great injustice to all those who suffered.
