File this under the one where Friends fail to fits in with modern gender politics'.
By the standards of circa-2015 political correctness, does the long-running sitcom pass the test? The show that brought a huge young audience to NBCs primetime lineup in the 1990s was apparently a hotbed of anti-gay, misogynistic antics and all-around bigotry.
Thats according to the historical revisionists over at Slate, where Ruth Graham has been taking notes while binge-watching reruns on Netflix. Could it be the next Amos n Andy?
Isnt the problem obvious? In the 1990s, PC extremism was still confined to college campuses, while a primitive, bitter-clinging America at-large had yet to be indoctrinated.
From her sofa, Graham has found appalling examples of behavior that wouldnt play in 2015, finding some that come across as painfully CBS. Ouch!

Friends is what made the homely Jennifer Anniston a star.”
Well. I hated that one too!
LOL! Gilligan’s Island was the FIRST thing that came to mind!
hahaha
Now look what you did!
How the hell could anyone hate “Cheers”? That show had some hysterical moments.
Um, Jen is not ‘homely looking’. well, unless I can take her home.
Isn't that the truth? She's extremely plain.
As my mother-in-law said, "Anything can happen in a world where Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston are thought of as beautiful."
Hmmmm, never was interested in the show, but if it was not PC, this means there was some GOOD stuff there.
Must watch.
Must watch.
Must tweet PC followers with picture of “the finger”.
Here are some nice photos of her.

The only people who actually read “Slate” are conservatives who go there to mock it.
A film that’s in the can doesn’t change. What changed is the tolerance limit for PC. The militant PC crowd has been lowering the bar for years. At this time, anything a normal person says or does, or doesn’t say or doesn’t do, is considered un-PC.
Friends was Rebel Incorrect the entire time. One of the reasons was exactly because it was so PC. What was it - one of those fools sired a kid for one of the women who wanted a baby while being homo?
Never mind the whole thing just stinks. Endless immoral morons worrying about sex with each other.
The left never stops moving the goalposts. What was PC and liberal back then is now some kind of right-wing reactionary stuff.
Just like now, after they get homo marriage in every state, they have already said they want access to the children, the children must be brainwashed to accept their advances.
Winston’s job is never done
She'd be worth a trip to Tchotchke's.
I remember back at the start of the show in 1994, the queer commentary was that roommates Joey and Chandler would come out as gay.
Now its not PC?
Am glad that didn’t happen because I would have dropped the show immediately.
It was very PC when it aired. The left has moved so much farther left that this is the result.
#25 it is a funny show.
It would have been better with the Diane character : )
I didn't know we were going downhill that fast.
What a sick society.
Sarcastic wit.
At the time I was a bit put off by AFA writing up that episode as pro-gay. OK, it DID put it “out in the open”, but at the same time the guys were desperately trying to show and prove they were not gay. Anyone really pro-gay would not try so hard.
Seinfeld was vastly better than Friends. #1, in fact.
