Ha, very interesting. I guess it’s true, living well is the best revenge.
Thank you Mr. Clint, you’re a great American in your own right.
I thought Act of Valor was quite good...really good! OTOH 0 Dark 30 was boring to the max. Am Sniper was right up there w/ Act of Valor.
Great movie. Saw it this weekend. Reasonably close to the book, with some toning down for political correctness, and amping up for Hollywood.
I saw it this weekend. I highly recommend seeing it but don’t go with anyone you dont want to see you cry.
Anybody have some names of the 18 so i can avoid them?
I sure wish he would have used a term different than "out-gross"... ;')
Our wounded warriors should get a percentage.
Our wounded warriors should get a percentage.
Our wounded warriors should get a percentage.
Our wounded warriors should get a percentage.
This is not surprising.
Many studies have been made over the years that shows Hollywood’s agenda is to LOSE money.
Their highest grossing money making movies are rated PG and PG-13.
Yet what do they spend most of their money on? R-rated films designed to shock, insult and gross out most viewers.
Hollywood has an agenda and they don’t care what it takes or how much it costs to promote their sick and perverted world views.
One of my favorite WOT movies is Kingdom. The last 20 minutes or so of that movie are really intense.
1. American Sniper $64,365,000
-snip-
8. Selma $5,500,000

I am amused that the movie has generated political controversy from the usual suspects. IMHO, it is not a political movie. It honors the sacrifices and hard work that we ask of our brave and patriotic soldiers. I guess that’s what makes it political to some.
Ticket prices now are double and in some cases triple what they were when many of the movies being compared to American Sniper were released.
I love it when stuff like that happens.
Very good movie great acting job by Bradley Cooper. I felt Eastwood depicted Kyle’s point of view, I don’t think it was a “pro war” movie, it’s just that because it’s Bush’a Iraq War, the liberals have to get in everyone’s face.
Contrast with Behind Enemy Lines, an anti UN command pro-American shoot em up, but it was Clinton’s war and the villains were the Christians slaughtering Muslims, so that was OK with the liberals. Owen Wilson ends up gleefully killing way more Serbs but that was ok.
” My guess is that Hollywood lost somewhere around a billion with B dollars producing those box office bombs, ....”
If only that were so.
The theatre box-office numbers do not include other revenue streams — in particular, sales to pay-tv, streaming services, DVD, etc.
More importantly, they don’t “account” for the creative accounting Hollywood studios use.

I remember when a war on terror movie was called King Kong.
