With Republicans in Congress split over the best approach to Obama's executive amnesty - and with many establishment Republicans splitting form grassroots Republicans on the issue of illegal immigration more generally - it's clear that immigration will be a hot-button primary issue in 2016. ...
So where do the potential candidates stand? Here's a rundown:

“I left California in 2006, after having lived there 30 years.”
It’s a shame because it’s a beautiful state. Mountains, beaches, the Reagan Library, it’s got it all.
Did you find a conservative place to go to?
Immigration policy is my Number One Issue.
I am not surprised to find he has quietly supported Amnesty, more legal immigration, and more work visas.
I cannot support any of the top GOP candidates for 2016.
Even Ted Cruz is badly flawed.
In 2000, Cruz helped write the Bush-McCain Amnesty that the GOP leadership tried to shove down our throats in 2005-2006.
In 2012, Cruz publicly campaigned for more foreign work visas for Texas farmers and ranchers.
In 2014, in El Paso, Cruz stated that he would have supported the Gang of Eight Amnesty if border security was “certified” and if there was “no path to citizenship.”
Everyone knows the Federal Courts will strike down “no path to citizenship,” so that's completely useless.
Half of illegals come here legally as tourists and overstay, so Border Security is completely useless for those folks.
And, everyone knows that a GOP Congress will do nothing if a future president decides not to vigorously enforce border security, so that's useless, too.
Does anyone know what they means when they say “the system is broken?”
What exactly is “broken?”
I’ve never had someone explain HOW the system is broken that it needs fixing.
John a republican congressman was responsible for the balanced budget under Clinton.
As a Republican governor he has a budget surplus in Ohio currently.
He is has earned disfavor for his position on ObamaCare and other issues.
GOP needs some swing or battleground states, if they can get Ohio, the rest is pretty negotiable.
I guess the swing-states are Ohio, Virginia and a few others.
So, I’ll just repeat, they need to get a few of those.
Nice list, except for number 3.
E-Verify amounts to putting the federal government in control of every hiring decision in America, with a complete national database of every citizen, and government permission required before any one of those citizens can be hired.
I am not willing to give up liberty because a bunch of oath-breaking politicians failed to do their primary duty, which is to protect the states from invasion.
I’m not willing to put the State in charge of whether or not citizens qualify to earn their daily bread.
Let them run under the communist party label!
Enforce the existing laws against employers, including homeowners, with heavy fines for a first offense and mandatory prison for a second offense and all the illegals will be gone in 6 months!
Scottsdale, AZ
The law states that if you are in the USA illegally you are to be deported back to your home country.
That’s not hard. Eisenhower did it.
But then Ike had a backbone and he was a patriot, something lacking in 99% of the GOP. Jeff Sessions is the only elected official I know of who supports it.
And deportation is the only thing that will rescue California.
Hmm, have to look more at that one. Thanks.
Where is the guy that will throw them all out.
