Yes, Clint Eastwoods biopic of the late Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history with 160 confirmed kills over four tours of Iraq, has captured the fascination of the American public, earning a whopping $135 million-plus in less than two weeks of wide release, as well as 6 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Bradley Coopers committed portrayal of Kyle.
Its also proved divisive, with Hollywood stars like Seth Rogen and Michael Moore making colorful comments about the film (both have since apologized, claiming their statements were taken out of context), and critics being split on whether the film is jingoistic, anti-war, or both.
Enter provocateur Bill Maher.
On Fridays episode of his HBO series Real Time with Bill Maher, the outspoken satirist pondered whether Kyle was a hero or not, and revealed hes decidedly anti-American Sniper.

Maher has a history of this sort of thing. The reason he was kicked off network TV in the 90s was for saying that, during Clinton’s Wag the Dog episode of demolishing aspirin factories, it was cowardly for American ships to stand offshore and fire cruise missiles inland. He likes his war up close and personal. Well, the other guy’s anyway.
Bill Maher knows where to stuff it and what to kiss.
Lets just try to remember that Bill Maher is a pseudo comedian like Al Franken. Who listens or cares what this guys says except the media?
Idiots versus everyone else?
Let's have more of it!
Let’s send in Bill Maher.
Excerpted from “TOMMY” by Rudyard Kipling:
I went into a public-’ouse to get a pint o’ beer,
The publican ‘e up an’ sez, “We serve no red-coats here.”
The girls be’ind the bar they laughed an’ giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an’ to myself sez I:
O it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, go away”;
But it’s “Thank you, Mister Atkins”, when the band begins to play,
The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
O it’s “Thank you, Mister Atkins”, when the band begins to play.
I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
They gave a drunk civilian room, but ‘adn’t none for me;
They sent me to the gallery or round the music-’alls,
But when it comes to fightin’, Lord! they’ll shove me in the stalls!
Yes, makin’ mock o’ uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an’ they’re starvation cheap;
An’ hustlin’ drunken soldiers when they’re goin’ large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin’ in full kit.
We aren’t no thin red ‘eroes, nor we aren’t no blackguards too,
But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
An’ if sometimes our conduck isn’t all your fancy paints,
Why, single men in barricks don’t grow into plaster saints;
You talk o’ better food for us, an’ schools, an’ fires, an’ all:
We’ll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don’t mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow’s Uniform is not the soldier-man’s disgrace.
For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Chuck him out, the brute!”
But it’s “Saviour of ‘is country” when the guns begin to shoot;
An’ it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ anything you please;
An’ Tommy ain’t a bloomin’ fool — you bet that Tommy sees!

Yes,
And let’s not forget..
How this legend died.
Another $18.3 MILLION at the box office Friday night...twist in the wind, Maher...
LOL! Insults from this ugly, little puke are accolades. Or as our Grannies used to tell us - “consider the source.”
wow and all this time we were lead to believe that they “supported the troops”.
He had to carefully evaluate the best way to balance his Karma with the liberal ferrals after his islam rants.
I imagine types like Mahr also have a major problem with the style of fighting that the American Militia used during the Revolutionary War as well.
Not FAIR!
“OK, Bill Maher, from now on, instead of using surgical snipers to remove enemy threats, well use 105mm rounds and blast out the entire building or buildings nearby the same threats”
No commentary on Kyle here. But I wish we did exactly that. Our ultra careful, pathological horror of traditional military power is why we bogged down in Iraq as long as we did. Can anybody imagine the US Army or Marines circa 1944 being tied down there for a decade?
Armor matters. Artillery used widely matters. Carpet bombing is better than precision in some cases. And a line of attack matters. We own everything behind us, and blow up anything before us. Snipers of course have a use there, but we do not use enough violence today to instill terror in the enemy and break their hearts by destroying everything that matters to them.
SO yes, a 105 is fine. Unless of course 155 or 8 inch is available.
As a final aside. Imagine the harsh response if the Red Ball express feeding Patton’s army was attacked daily by IEDs. Yet for years, we couldn’t even bother to secure our main surface routes. Just send convoys down in certainty they would be blown up.
But oh yes, I would much rather we used 105s.
But Mayher should show a little respect. This Kyle hate is really getting over the top the last few weeks.
“On 7 October, 1777, Timothy Murphy, a rifleman in Morgan's Kentucky Riflemen shot and killed General Simon Fraser of the British army. Murphy was said to have taken the shot at roughly 500 yards. He was using the renowned Kentucky rifle. Fraser was leading a recon in force against the rebellious colonists at Bemis Heights in New York. As a result of Fraser's death, the recon failed. This had a direct impact on the overall battle, leading to the British defeat. The Battle of Saratoga was considered one of the turning points of the War for Independence.”
The British attack was disrupted and the Americans won. This battle showed that the Americans could win against the British and was the catalyst for French entry into the war.
8 inch not available. Been retired
Mahrer is decidedly against anything, so long as it makes him money.
Bill you sleep soundly in your bed because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do you harm.
