Obama's eighteen year old mother was one year too young to confer American citizenship to her son IF he was born outside the United States. The requirement at that time was that at least one parent must have been a U.S. citizen for five years after age 14 to confer citizenship to a child born outside the United States.

Not so. His mother had to be a citizen of the US for 5 years after age 14 for that to be true under the law at the time. Either that, or he had to be born in the US...hence the whole birth certificate controversy.
Under this definition, Cruz is a citizen from birth because his US citizen mother was older than 19 (she was in college in the 1950’s, more than 100 years before his birth). Unlike Obama, ther is no doubt here.
Of couse, the definition of “natural born citizen” is still at issue. I think that neither qualify for lack of TWO citizen parents, but that ship sailed in 2009.
