Robbers and looters are targeting trucks carrying food across Venezuela in another sign of worsening shortages that have turned basics like flour and chicken into coveted booty. Crime has long plagued shops and roads in Venezuela, which has one of the world's highest murder rates. But widespread shortages due to a restriction of dollars for imports have worsened since the New Year. This has made food delivery increasingly risky even as certain trucks have been fitted with GPS devices and are sometimes protected by private security agents.

I asked the same a few days ago.
Yes, we’re having beans tonight. Burritos made from homemade tortillas and dried beans into the pressure cooker. Have you seen the cost of canned beans, wow! Lunch today was clean out the veggie drawer soup. Had breakfast for dinner last night with home shot venison sausage. Before that was meatloaf, tacos, burgers and soup out of a 10 lb. tube of reduced soon to expire ground beef. Living well but cheap.
I have gotten Omaha Steaks before. They come in a nice cooler packed in dry ice.
I usually cook my beans anyway, so I can control the sodium and by pass chemical ingredients. We have sales now and then and I can pick up several varieties for around 50 cents a can - even Van Camps Pork and beans.
When they are on sale I buy a case of each to keep around for quick fixin’s and drain and soak/rinse to reduce the undesirable stuff.
How did they taste? Was it good quality?
Back to the poor grocery management, ours hasn’t stocked pork ‘n beans for years. Crazy.
They were pretty good. Very good quality, but for the price you can go to Mosers or Schulty’s in Jefferson city and get the same quality for less.
Do those places in Jefferson City deliver to home 3 hours away?
Often though, these robbers are Chavista’s own thugs, especially the armed ones on motorcycles
Pork and Bean is a necessity for my pantry. I can eat them cold out of a can. Cold leftover from the fridge, or stir in a little braised onion, Worchestershire sauce, brown sugar and a dash of ketchup and stick in the oven for baked beans.
Good food for emergencies.

<<< It’s amazing how powerful that “right wing” is; they can even make food disappear from the store shelves. I guess Maduro will have to start throwing his opponents in jail. That, I’m sure, will bring back the food.
