I wouldn't lay that at her feet. There were WAY too many cooks in the kitchen, a huge group of second tier challengers (none of whom was able to gain traction). It should've been whittled down to one long before the primary.

My point was that her fruitless boasting about running them out of town while drawing many cheers here back then looks silly now.

None of them would have beaten him one on one either, especially the 2nd place finisher that most everyone here was for.
He needed a top tier opponent, he was reelected the moment the filing deadline passed.
Cochran and Alexander were the only ones that faced decent opponents.
