My MIL said of the SotU speech - “he’s such a nice man”.
As in, he is “going to give” a lot of stuff to people, and that makes her feel good about herself.
I heard her say that and could just feel myself “darken”.
I was shouting inside “HE’S DESTROYING THE COUNTRY FOR YOUR GRANDKIDS AND YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT IT!”
I suppose “national debt” never crossed her mind.
