President Obama’s state of the union address was loaded with sweet delights meant to bedazzle America’s long-suffering middle class as he signaled economic prosperity for all is waiting just around the corner.
But the author of a New York Times-best-selling book about America’s future in a post-Christian society was not impressed.
He sees dark storm clouds closing in on Obama’s rays of sunshine, citing “harbingers” that the country is sliding headlong toward a collapse – with blindfolds securely fastened.
“Listening to the president’s State of the Union address, I was reminded of ancient Israel,” said Jonathan Cahn, author of “The Mystery of the Shemitah” and “The Harbinger,” which draws parallels between America’s falling away from God and a series of judgments that will come as a result.
“The people (of Israel) convinced themselves that they were coming back stronger than before,” Cahn told WND. “And then it all collapsed, and the judgment came.”
Cahn sees warning signs of potential judgment coming to America as the current Shemitah year nears the halfway poInt.

That a vile creature such as Obama could ever be elected is an ominous sign.
Rabbi Jonathan Cahn is very appealing to me. I have read one of his books, but so far I have no way to test if he is a true prophet or something else. I am waiting to see what event may or may not occur that Cahn has pointed to that would test Cahn as a true prophet.

I read The Harbinger a month ago, and am just about to read the followup on Shemitah.
I was quite amazed at what he presented - now I am pretty nervous about investments. I went to see my investment guy to move everything into something secure, but he assured me that 2015 was looking good. I am having second thoughts again.
When vast numbers of people turn away from God...HE permits them to have what they want. It is the only merciful way to bring them back through the mystery of suffering.
Having published a book on the Sabbath year seven years ago, I can say with reasonable certainty that Cahn is clueless about how the Mosaic Law was supposed to work. There was nothing mystical about it.
The BIG Difference between Ancient Israel and The United States and Western Civilization is the Israel(Past, Present and Future) is/was/will ALWAYS BE G*D’s CHOSEN People and NONE of the rest are(The New Testament Church is G*D’s Bride). Countries that miss-treat Israel and the Jews ALWAYS come out badly!
You make a very good point about the US not being Israel. Stunningly, I did not make that connection until you mentioned it. Further, I agree that the analogy of Israel and the church is much closer than Israel and the US.
I want to be clear that I am not dissing Cahn, but he has been out there a lot and I just don’t know if he’s the real deal or a good book seller.

This is a Christian Jewish minister.
From a Christian viewpoint I would argue it is a mistake for Christian synagogues to call their clergy rabbis. Jesus flatly forbade it, if the New Testament account is taken at face value. A more apt term would be something like the Qoheleth of Ecclesiastes.
HOWEVER--we are the only country in the world (of which I am aware) that explicitly dedicated itself to God and His principles at the founding. It makes sense that He would warn/punish us the same way that He would warn/punish Israel.
There are too many "coincidences" in our history (not just 9/11) to ignore the pattern.
To me--the proof will be Sept. 2015. I honestly think that, as a nation, we will be severely punished.
The recent (yesterday, I believe) vote to table the abortion bill is just more proof that we, as a nation, will not turn back. Get your families' affairs in order, and be prepared.
I don’t agree with everything Rabbi Cahn says, but when he says things that line up with the prophetic Scriptures, then he speaks Truth.
Thanks. Yes, I keep hearing about September 2015. Not sure what to make of it. It seems to be some confluence of events, but my spirit has not been moved or confirmed that something is imminent and I consider myself someone who is paying close attention.

I wish I could tell you what that means to me. I spent the better part of this morning on my hands and knees weeding tiny non-native plants that are only there because the botanists in this State blew it with the identification for at least fifty years. Fortunately, I suspected it was an exotic and was keeping it under wraps until I could get a determination. These may in fact be serious ecological issues, as is illustrated by the difference between our grasslands and those around us here.
