Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver was taken into custody Thursday in Manhattan on corruption charges, The Daily News has learned.
The impending arrest of Silver, who has been one of the most powerful men in Albany for more than two decades, was first reported overnight by The New York Times.
While it’s unclear exactly what charges Silver could be facing, The Times reported the rap is linked to payments the powerful Manhattan Democrat received from New York City lawfrim Goldberg & Iryami that he did not disclose publicly, as required by law.

Makes me wonder if Weitz & Luxembourg will be allowed to remain a legal entity in New York as well.

I don’t know enough about NY to answer that. But Silver is in trouble he can’t get himself out of.
Reading the footnotes on pages 21 and 22, holy crap is he in deep crap.

But everyone in Albany knew Shelly was doing it too, but kept quiet.
Heck, a bunch of them smirked about it.

The mesothelioma center mentioned in the documents had radio airtime on local stations, and Weitz & Luxenburg [thanks for not trying to cowreck that one machine] also had radio ads.
Oddly enough, both vanished from air play a couple days ago.

NY Government, both the Senate and Assembly is a cesspool of corruption - but nothing ever happens and nothing will.
The only answer is term limits.
Bruno's case got overturned AND taxpayers picked up his millions in legal fees. Hopefully they actually have bribery evidence for this arrest

I just hope they nail Shelly, it’s time that their were consequences to the quid pro quo’s in government.

He has been a nuisance for years, and everyone knew of his corruption.
That’s what made it even worse, everyone knew yet nobody did a darn thing.
Even if he’d been nabbed at the start(the complaint says 2000) someone just as corrupt would have replaced him and it still would’ve been business as usual.
As it sits, some other skeeve is likely to replace him.
