Yep. Just another gentle giant put out of our misery.
The hood is a better place today.
I guess we’ll see if that “silver handgun” not mentioned in the video actually materializes through subsequent enquiries.
Regardless of the orders, I don’t think being uncooperative is automatic grounds for being killed, myself, especially when both empty hands are seen in the video.
I read in the accompanying narrative with the video “a gun was seized”. But the article states this was the only time one has been mentioned since. I don’t know, really.
I guess we’ll see what shakes out of this when more information is given.
The account I read is that a few seconds earlier, Days had ordered the men to get out of the car, and Reid said he wasn’t getting out of the ——ing car. Then the officers started yelling hands up, let me see your hands and trying to open the car doors themselves. Sounds like Days already had the gun from the glove compartment.
Another case of police officers going into escalation, hostility and intimidation mode and issuing confusing, contradictory commands that are impossible to comply with.
Don’t move! Get on the ground! Don’t move! Hands in the air!
Which is it?
You’re dead.
Both cops shot the guy. That suggests to me that more was happening than we currently know. I want more info before I come to a conclusion.
Never will understand the decision not to comply with “Don’t F’in move” or “show me your hands” or “don’t get out of the car”. Dead thug had plenty of opportunities to comply, and be alive to talk about it. Cop is black btw.
Also, I’ve been working since I’m 14 and still don’t have a shiny new Jag. Must be nice.
In my opinion, this all goes back to the mistaken cultural teaching that, just because you're black, you can dis the po'po' and have it your way. Nope.
African? Days, the officer who started shooting, and knew Reid, and seemed to have a pre-existing bad relationship with him, is he African too?
Bad shoot. Bad from the start, when the initial official press releases weaseled about with “ a gun was seen.” Yeah, when, where, and was anyone holding it?
That’s what’s been said, both fired (although my impression from the video was otherwise, apparently).
You’re right, though. We need more information here. I’ve only raised questions I’ve had and things that stood out for me after seeing the video. One was why was the first approach to the passenger side? What was on the radio in the cruiser prior to the stop for a stop sign roll-through?
I’m not convicting the cop, but if I was on a jury, I’d like to know all of what really happened. I don’t think we’ve gotten it all here.
Bad shoot, but Social Justice was served.
I completely agree with the confusing commands.
Kind of like a guy that names his dog “Sit”
“Sit, stay”
“Sit, Come here”
“Sit, lay down”
But in this instance, he told the other cop to get the drive out of the car that there was a gun in the Glove compartment.
I think I heard the soon to be dead thug say “I’m getting out of the car”, Days says, “No your not, don’t f’n move. Keep your hands where I can see them”
That’s when the soon to be dead thugs get out of the car.
It would be nice if these shootings where Hollywood clear but once the guy exited the car and was standing up, he’s in an offensive position.
I still think it’s a good shoot but I’m neither a lawyer or a cop.
It looks like suicide by cop to me. And of course lowlifes like Sharpton will exploit this again.
If dissing a cop is now a legitimately capitol offense it is time to burn the whole thing down and start over. Nice to know what side you will be on.
I agree, we need to know more.
Yep, and the cop on the driver's side was white if someone tries to make this racial.
I also can’t overlook the fact that this happened last month and is only now becoming news.
The video is far from clear. It’s difficult to make out what the passenger was doing that may have caused the police officer to react as he did. The police officer DID specify to the passenger not to move, and yet, the passenger exited the vehicle. Not a good move. I didn’t hear conflicting orders from the police officer. He said, don’t move. Over and over again. Yet the passenger exited the vehicle.
I have no strong initial view of what happened here. I’ll wait for a thorough investigation.
It should be said that when someone in lawful authority is pointing a weapon at you, it’s a good idea, generally, to conform with instructions he’s giving you.
I’m big. I can totally crush someone, with my hands raised.
Good shoot.
“I also cant overlook the fact that this happened last month and is only now becoming news.
It was news when it happened. I am guessing the video was just released.
