Rebuffing President Barack Obama on Iran, House Speaker John Boehner said Wednesday he had invited Israel's prime minister to address a joint meeting of Congress next month about the threats from Tehran and radical Islam.
The Republican leader released a letter extending the invitation to Benjamin Netanyahu for Feb. 11. Boehner also told a private meeting of GOP lawmakers that Congress would proceed on new penalties against Iran despite Obama's warning that any legislation would scuttle diplomatic negotiations over the country's nuclear program.
"You may have seen that on Friday, the president warned us not to move ahead with sanctions on Iran, a state sponsor of terror," Boehner told colleagues, according to his office. "His exact message to us was: 'Hold your fire.' He expects us to stand idly by and do nothing while he cuts a bad deal with Iran.
"Two words: 'Hell no!' ... We're going to do no such thing," the speaker said.
The U.S. and other Western countries believe that Iran is intent on trying to develop nuclear weapons. Tehran claims its nuclear program is peaceful and exists only to produce energy for civilian use.
The high-stakes invitation came just hours after Obama, in his State of the Union address, told Congress that he would veto any sanctions legislation and he urged Congress to delay further penalties against Iran.
"New sanctions passed by this Congress, at this moment in time, will all but guarantee that diplomacy fails alienating America from its allies, and ensuring that Iran starts up its nuclear program again," Obama said Tuesday night. "It doesn't make sense. That is why I will veto any new sanctions bill that threatens to undo this progress. The American people expect us to only go to war as a last resort, "

This is sooo ‘in your face’ funny ... finally ...
Excellent!
If Obama wants to play in the sand box, then we’ll kick some sand in his face.
Good deal! I’m going to love hearing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaking to a joint session of Congress again. Go Bibi!
I love this. Boehner totally bypasses Obama and invites Barak’s arch enemy Bibi to address Congress. It’s wonderful. A stroke of genius. Take that, O’Bummer. Bibi is my hero; O’Bummer, not so much....
LOL The white house is whining about protocol.
Better yet we get to see who walks out while he’s speaking.
Obozo won’t play in the sandbox because the cats keep trying to bury him.
The movement to oust Boehner as Speaker failed, but it shook him up. He realizes that reports of the death of the Tea Party have been greatly exaggerated.
This is how he gets cred with conservatives, for whom Netanyahu is a hero.
If Obama refuses to see Netanyahu in the WH or if liberals storm out of the joint session as Bibi is speaking, Boehner wins.
The Dems are on the horns of a dilemma for now.
The ‘Daniel Ortega precedent’ would apply. I’m sure Obama thinks that was OK.
I don’t trust Boehner but I’m not going to beat him up for doing something right.
Netanyahu should talk about his border wall and deportation numbers.
GREAT!!!
Netanyahu to speak in the well of the House. This is Zone of Boehner’s better moves.
Will Bibi Netanyahu even have time to visit America in the near future?
After the terrorist attack on the kosher butcher shop in Paris and Netanyahu’s pleas to French Jews to ‘’come home to Israel,’’ it seems to have occurred to Netanyahu that Israel will have to get more aggressive against its enemies or its newly immigrant French butchers won’t be any safer in Israel than they were in Paris.
The recent targetted attack by the Israeli Air Force that blew up a carful of Iranian generals and Hezbollah operatives might be a prelude to Israel’s finally getting serious about defending itself. If that’s the case, speaking to Congress will be a low priority for Netanyahu as he directs a war of attrition against Iran’s Red Guards and Hezbollah’s terrorist leaders.
First of all,Obama has shown no sign that he recognizes what the American people want. Secondly, what is the point of pandering to a foreign nation that has already shown their prime objective to be the destruction of anything contrary to their warped values?
No kidding, huh?
I loved the mock cheer when Zero said that he won't be running for office again. LOL. Did he read his speech ahead of time? How did he think the Republicans were going to react?
WTF??
Did the gelding actually start growing a ball? or did the Tea Party insurrection scare him to the point of peeing himself?
Or maybe, just maybe, (and this is a HUGE stretch) he was just marking time till he knew reinforcements and the cavalry (senate)were at hand.
I’m not big on the Boner. I’ve said so, I wanted him REMOVED! I still do. He’s a wino and he cries too much.
I’ve been as much a stone in his shoe as I could be, not that he even knows I’m alive. Or even cared.
OTH, I’m sensing something of a turn of the worm.
Now that he has the wind at his back, maybe his backbone will turn from yellow to red.
That said, I just wonder how much Barry the Bastard Son has on him, just like Roberts.
Mr. Stitch is loose in the land.
Hang on Ladies and Gents, we “Live In Interesting Times.”
HOO BOI!!
