Chris Kyle was incredible. He was simply an incredible, real-life action hero. Before his death, he was already known as the deadliest sniper in American history and as a best-selling author. Since his death, a few reporters have heard trickles of other stories. Around Midlothian, one story in particular has been raising eyebrows. It goes something like this: when he was first back from Iraq, in 2009, Chris Kyle killed two armed men who were attempting to carjack him at a gas station.
I first heard this story more than a year ago. It hasn’t made the news much. There was a brief mention in Marcus Luttrell’s second book. And now the Star-Telegram has a blog item mentioning the story and how difficult it is to confirm. Well, as it turns out, I’ve been working on a story about Chris Kyle for about nine months. We talked regularly, mostly about the challenges and triumphs of his transition home. I first asked him about the story last summer, during an interview in his Dallas office. I said: “Now, I have to ask you about an incident that I’ve heard about. I heard it happened at a gas station.”
He said: “You mean the time I shot two guys trying to steal my truck?”

The story is told with verve, but there is no documentary confirmation, not even the names of those killed. I suppose that with the film out, there will be more scrutiny of Chris Kyle’s testimony.
Sounds like some thugs picked the wrong dude to mess with.

The left is making him out like the myth of Davy Crocket’s tale of killing bears by his bear hands. I don’t care what the left says about him; he still a hero that holds the official record as an American sniper, risking his life in the killing of our country’s enemies. Nothing will deviate this point.
The Left is on the attack because the movie is so pro American and so popular that it has broken all January box office records. I saw it yesterday, it is a must see film.

All that’s needed is a Glock and The Gunny, and you have a world-class commercial! Only in this one, the perps get dropped.
Just read an interview with his sniper school instructor. I genera, he spoke very well of Kyle. But when asked about that and Kyle’s claims of killing people from the roof of the Silverdome his response was “I want to believe him, but...”
I think it was the PTSD that led him to make-up stories when he got home. He maybe didn’t even know he was doing it. I read another article that said that maybe since he was such a big hero during his time in the military, he felt the need to continue being the larger-than-life hero when he became a civilian.
That’s called a sea story. In civilian, its called BS. We are to believe he shoots two guys, dead. And that the local cops get a call from the pentagon saying let him go, and they just cut him loose. No police reports, no medical examiners office investigation, no autopsy, no gas station video, no families who lost a relative and decides to sue. No cop ever breathes a word of it. And of course, no town named. Its pretty obvious it never happened...
And if this is true, why didn’t he get cut loose by the cops in Steamboat springs after a bar fight?
Why would he need to run after punching out Jesse Ventura before the cops got there?
He could just pull out his get out of jail free card, right?
I mean, if it works for justified double homicide.
He did good in the war, and that’s good enough reason to like him. But he does seem to have a penchant for tall tales.

And you have to also believe that in THAT part of Texas, along 67, someone saw an F-350 with giant knobby tires, driven by a 6’2” bearded dude built like an NFL player.
And that these two fellas said “Sayyy,, lets not wait for the next woman or geezer to carjack. Lets get THIS guy!”
Trucks like that pull in every 5 to 7 minutes. And they picked him. Yeahhhhhh,,, sure.

Yes. And in the long run, this story resonates with children, and the children in us. It makes us want to be like Davy Crocket. Go for it lefties. Make this great man out to be like Davy Crocket, Daniel Boone, George Washington, George Patton, William Wallace, Francis Marion, Douglas MacArthur, or any other of the great men of legends. We will love him more and more. He will become a battle cry and something we can stand for.

Exactly. Just enjoy what he did in the war and forget the rest I say. Like Pappy Boyington said. “show me a hero and ill prove he’s a bum”.
Heroes need not be perfect throughout their life. And shouldn’t have to be either.

People used to kinda know that about heroes. Gabby Gabaldon from Saipan had a dark side and a streak of self promotion. Boyington was another. General Grant was as good of a man as the nation ever produced, and a drunk. Custer was a hero, and it can be easily shown he was an essential part of us winning at Gettysburg, and he was a vain dandy. Smedley Butler got caught up in the bonus march movement.
Ira Hayes was a fine Marine,,,until he could find a bottle.
Kyle joins the ranks of heroic fighting men who had personal flaws. But we still hold them close anyway.
I’m sorry, but this story is utter BS. It don’t work that way (when they run his ID).
The real question is what is it that motivates denial of a report like this in the absence of confirmatory evidence?
