Britains most senior doctor has said the under-pressure NHS may be forced to abandon the concept of free healthcare for all.
Prof. Sir Bruce Keogh, medical director of the NHS in England, said there were doubts over whether the taxpayer-funded model was sustainable in the longer term.
He added that huge changes were neededincluding less reliance on hospitalsif free treatment was to be preserved.
He told the Guardian: If the NHS continues to function as it does now, its going to really struggle to cope because the model of delivery and service that we have at the moment is not fit for the future.

They’ve been at it for the last 70 years, and they’re only realising this NOW?
I don’t think it was sustainable to begin with—I’ll go out on a limb and say there were people THEN that thought the NHS a total wash.

Nothing is ‘free’. Healthcare has to be administered by someone, and even if that someone is a robot, someone still has to make the robot. Making drugs and devices isn't free. Nurses don't work for free. Hospitals aren't built for free. I would happily donate my services for free for those who truly can't pay anything, but that still doesn't cover medications, hospital expenses, tests, etc. etc.

So they’ll charge the Brits and give free healthcare to the immigrants.

...the concept of free healthcare for all... It's a "concept" of Marxism, not compatible with free market capitalism. Which is why Obgumbe promotes it.

He'll do it better...once we all have free healthcare...the country will dissolve itself....with no govt...no nation...it won't matter at that point... Thanks OBAMA!

it not losing the free healthcare, it’s the services, drugs, and procedures that will be prohibited in order to preserve free health care.

That makes no sense; I saw the celebration of their National Health Service in the Opening Ceremonies. It's a glorious success, in which working people happily donate their hard-earned money so that others can receive as much expensive care as they demand. How could a model that generous fail?
