I've been all-in with these people since 1995 (with the exception of two years starting eleven years ago when I went two falls out of three with cancer, the Big C, as John Wayne used to call it).
If Bush or Romney or Paul get the nod, I think I would rather walk barefoot through shattered glass than work for any one. The higher on the ticket we went, the more one-way it became. When George W did everything in his power to destroy the Republican brand, I struggled against the current to help it survive. When that used-kleenex brain left office, he said I was a bloviator. I'm not positive what that is, but I don't think it's a complement.
I worked hard for Romney several years ago. When he lost, I felt really lousy. Since then, on the salient issues, he convinced me if he had been elected, he would have done zip but embarrass me.
We now have another Bush in the middle of the hunt. On salient issues he has done zip but groin kick me. If he gets the nod, he will expect my effort and support. I'm confident Rand Paul isn't my guy. He seems to like to embarrass Republicans when he gets the chance.
With these people it's all one-way. I don't even get insincere lip service.
I think I could work for Cruz with enthusiasm. These other clowns would make me want to resign in favor of a series of extra dry, extra delicious martinis.
Run Ted, Run!!!!!
Cruz or Lose. Our choice.
If he'll talk. I haven't heard a peep out of him.
You know better than to throw out an accusation like that without posting the evidence to support it.
We here in Texas were told that there was no way Ted could beat David Dewhurst (Lt Gov) in the race for the U.S. Senate.
Happened anyway...
Nothing to listen to Walker about. He is pals wth GOPe (Priebus, Ryan, Rove). He was completely AWOL while Ted was fighting Obamacare and defending the Constitution.
Walker was unable to deliver Wisconsin in the 2012 presidential election, and he surely will not be able to beat Hillary there if he is the 2016 candidate.
A conservative would have to be crazy to consider, let alone support, a Walker presidential candidacy.
If he jumps in he has my vote - and my money.
Thanks for that. I haven't followed Walker at all, but that's been my gut instinct about him. I've never seen him stick his neck out in any national debate of real importance.
I've never gotten the sense that he's a TEApublican, like Ted.
Walker’s doing great for his state, let him continue with his successful ‘laboratory’ for upcoming governors to emulate. Great policy wonk, but I need my POTUS enraged and vindictive about what the Left has done to America with zero.
I think we need another party for the purpose of nominating someone good when a GOPe candidate wins the Republican nomination.
That's the thing, isn't it?
The fact that Walker is so 'under the radar', is a red flag for me. At a time such as this, anyone fit to be the next President should be flaming Obama and the left in the press, every single day.
Ain't heard a peep out of Walker. He's keeping his head down, just like Mitt did, during the rise of the Tea Party.
Reagan was hardly a "film icon" of his day. He was a bit player in that regard. I love Reagan, but ...
Like tx said earlier -- "unelectable" means "ghastly unthinkable." Cruz is perfectly electable.
Please God.
Yep. There are very few with the guts to be ON the radar. Cruz is one of them.
I admit I’m puzzled that the same gope-STAB that dares not speak Ted’s name for fear of giving him name recognition appointed Joni Ernst to give the SOTU rebuttal. This one I really can not figure out.
Cruz has WALKED the walk. Most others just talk.
He has no evidence, all hyperbole. Extreme wouldn’t qualify for his own Vote.
I like, support and respect Cruz. I think he is electable in the right circumstances. My point was that the theory that Cruz will produce a conservative landslide by his staunch conservatism alone is not reasonable.
Likewise the theory that others like Walker can’t win because they are not as conservative as Cruz and the electorate will be uninspired is wrong.
That may apply to Jeb, Cristie and the like, but not to the whole field.
