For the better part of a century, the machine most likely to kill an American has been the automobile.
Car crashes killed 33,561 people in 2012, the most recent year for which data is available, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Firearms killed 32,251 people in the United States in 2011, the most recent year for which the Centers for Disease Control has data.
But this year gun deaths are expected to surpass car deaths. That's according to a Center for American Progress report, which cites CDC data that shows guns will kill more Americans under 25 than cars in 2015. Already more than a quarter the teenagers15 years old and upwho die of injuries in the United States are killed in gun-related incidents, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

more than that, thank God cars don’t have index fingers!
They keep on trying to spoon feed the America people that guns are evil. Some people are evil and evil people with guns should be dealt with, not the average American who carries one for safety and self defense, among other reasonable things. When will they demand no cars, knives, fists? SOme people kill with their bare hands. Are we going to remove the hands ands arms from every baby at birth because some kill with them later on? The left’s reasoning leads to nonsensical solutions.
I believe abortion kills way more than anything listed here.
Yeah, what about justified homicide? What a bunch of horsecrap.
Indeed, most gun deaths (60%) are due to suicide, and, yet, euthanasia promoting liberals all of a sudden make a big deal about it because it involves a gun and not an Obamacare paid employee.
.. And the suicides, because frankly if someone wants to whack themselves, that they use a gun is not on the gun.
I would subtract the suicides to the thug/drug related deaths also.
Great point.
“According to crime statistics from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), knives are consistently used to kill people far more often than rifles are used. And the numbers arent even close: five times as many murders were committed with knives than were committed with rifles last year.
“The FBI statistics show that knives have been used as a murder weapon far more often than rifles even those evil assault weapons we hear so much about for quite a while. In 2013, knives or other cutting instruments were used to kill 1,490 victims. In contrast, rifles were the cause of death of 285 murder victims. Shotguns were used in 308 murders. In 2009, the ratio was very similar: knives were used in five times as many murders as rifles.”
