Duke University has reversed itself, and announced Thursday afternoon it will not allow a Muslim call to prayer Friday from its iconic cathedral.
The decision had met with widespread controversy.
“Duke remains committed to fostering an inclusive, tolerant and welcoming campus for all of its students,” said Michael Schoenfeld, vice president for public affairs and government relations. “However, it was clear that what was conceived as an effort to unify was not having the intended effect.”
Members of the Muslim community will now gather on the quadrangle outside the chapel before moving to its regular location for prayers, Duke said.
The move to authorize the call to prayer from the chapel had roiled social media and led to a denunciation from evangelist Franklin Graham.

I’m unclear whether the Muslims will actually use the chapel.

When that chapel was dedicated, it was dedicated to the worship of Jesus Christ. That is how it should remain.
How many Christians are allowed to worship in mosques? How many are not allowed to worship Jesus or read the Bible at all in Muslim countries?
The administration at Duke are certainly stupid if they think this did anything but offend Christians.
It’s hard to know whether to hate the Duke administration more for their cowardice or for their stupidity.

That is an absolutely beautiful - and vacant - buiding. Where is the Cross, or any expressions of worship to our Creator? There are none. An I would bet that they have been systematically removed by the heathens. How utterly sad.

It makes one wonder why people who rise to the level of top leadership in institutions such a Duke, believe they can make what they know to be controversial moves without expecting blow-back. Expect a fatwa to be pronounced very soon, putting the Duke faculty under perhaps some severe retaliatory sanctions by the Islamic faction. This must not go unpunished, as since the Islamic students enrolled at Duke are once given a broad dispensation to impose their practice of Islam upon the Dhimmi, it shall not be allowed to be revoked.

Given your image of the quadrangle outside the chapel..this reversal isn't complete, rather it's a provocation since the muhammedans insist on gathering in front of the chapel.
WTH is wrong with these people? There is no reason for them to gather in front of the cathedral prior to moving to their 'regular location' for 'prayers' (ritual condemnations of all non-believers).
The Fatiha (Opening) is the first sura (chapter) of the Qur’an and most common prayer of Islam. A pious Muslim who prays the five requisite daily prayers of Islam will recite the Fatiha seventeen times in the course of those prayers.

“A Muslim prays five times a day, and on each occasion he recites the Fatiha, the first verse of the Koran, a number of times. This verse describes Christians as “those who have gone astray” and Jews as “those who have incurred Your wrath.” We see from this that Muslims ‘execrate’ Christians and Jews a number of times in the course of a single prayer, which they repeat five times a day.”

In any situation where the fatiha is recited, there is absolutely no interest in building bridges or extending tolerance. They are however fully intent on gaining exceptional degrees of tolerance from all non-believers. When it comes to Islam, tolerance is a one way street. Believe it or else.
